The problem may be the splitter,
solution is to get rid of it,
use a multiswitch or or dual outlet LNB, for more than one STB,
Good Luck
Hi all,
So I've put an rf splitter into one of my cable runs. The box on the end of the "split" cable misses a transponder upon scanning. It picks up the missing transponder no worries when connected to one of the "non-split" outlets. So I figure I have a signal loss issue here.
So my question is, what sort of amplifier can I use for f*xtel cable? Will any old digital tv amplifier do?
Thanks,
'max

Lomax,
Can you clarify which deliver method of Foxtel are you using.... cable or satellite?
You mention cable, but have posted in the satellite section.
How many outlets do you have?
You mention one of the 'non-split' outlets, which is very confusing, because if it's cable, it must be split for more than one outlet.
If it's satellite, you shouldn't be using splitters at all.
More info required on what you have and exactly how it's all connected please.
Sorry, it's a cable installation. I posted here because the cable section is dead :-(.
So 1 cable from street. This gets split into 3 runs at the junction box on the side of the house. I've now split one of those runs into another 3.
posting in the sat section will give you answers with people assuming it's a sat installation!

I'll let this slide Lomax, but in future, please post in the correct forum.

Did you sort this out Lomax, if so which amp did you end up using as I am now having problems as well picking up ABC1 ABC2 and 10 . 9 sometimes.
Did the amp fix this for you?
Cheers

I ended up hooking my box up to a cable that ran direct to the junction box, rather than one that was split a couple of times in the house. Was able to pick up everything then.
for Foxtel you need ZINWELL or C-COR drop distribution amplifier.
It has 4 outputs which can be splitted futher up to 10 boxes or if you have dedicated power feed, up to 12 boxes. I would get someone who knows what he is doing and do not play up with splitting cable by yourself.

Do you know where I can get one of these, namely the Zinwell HAD-A3-4RU?
Matchmaster also have one that is recommended for the Opt*s cable network for Pay TV. RF in, power in and four outputs at plus 7 db. Normally powered by back feeding 12 - 15vdc from one of the connected outlets to leg one of the amp. - fart
