I think you need to download a player add on, then in the file menu you mount it.
I have NOT been able to make mine work and too busy watching porn.
I have a 7020 qnd installed a dvd drive for it. in the blue panel it comes up with the drive and what disk is in but how do I play the disk?

sorry to re-hash old thread.
I am interested in fitting a DVD drive to a 7020 (internal/external dont care). As my "flat mate person" is F'in hopeless with tech. Is there anyway I can replace the existing DVD player (she uses to play movies on) to a DVD player/recorder in the 7020 so I can have one box, and not two.
truth be know, we have 3, dm (which she finds hard to use - because she has not had too! FTA lover!!), dvd player (movies), SD STB (Used by her for FTA)- using a RCA switch box (I'd like to be able to just use the one) and make her use the DM for all (DVD, Fuxtel/FTA) and clean up the clutter from the cabinet!!! (not to mention the remotes)
thanks
7020 has a HDD installed already.
I have seen the thread with the uk link?? that sells them (internal + faceplate), wondering if there is any newer developments?? (I'm Assuming you cant have a HDD + DVD player in a 7020 due to heat/space/power required - whatever??)
Would this even work with .vob files? (Would the DM even decode it correctly)
I guess what I am asking, is can I have ONE BOX do it all, play FTA+PAYTV/AND DVD movies (she hires)
anyone have a solution?

If you feed ducks at a pond, chances are your bound to feed a goose or two without even knowing it.
You can run a HDD and DVD drive together without issue. If your using a genuine dream, and the HDD is 3.5" then you may have to do the 'cap mod', as the PSU only just supplies enough current on the 12v rail. Laptop/2.5" HDDs do not use the 12v line, so it should be fine.
Personally i wouldn't bother doing it, unless it was for fun. It is more trouble than it is worth, and im certain your friend wont like it.
The dreambox can't play encrypted/protected DVD's/VOBS, i.e. pretty much any commerical DVD. Hence any disc you want to view has to first be ripped/extracted on the computer (to remove the protection).
I also found that the audio went out of sync easily. Fast forwarding and rewinding could exacerbate the problem.
If you were willing to buy a new dreambox, then i believe you can combine the FTA and foxtel. The DM7025 can have 2 tuners installed eg 1 for sat, and 1 for terrestrial. The new dmboxes probably also have this ability.
You could then use your computer to stream any DVD movie to the dreambox. Again, i doubt your friend will find this easy.
Being a DM dealer, Cmoore may have some kits also.
Cheers.
P.S. The cap mod involves soldering a cap (eg 4700uf electrolytic at 16volts) on 12v and ground and also 5v and ground rails.
