Win 7 Pro/32bit need help
Hi All.
I bought a new laptop with Win7 Pro/32bit installed. And am trying to transfer my Garmin maps from my old lappy which has Win XP SP3 on it to the new one.
I only have legal maps I purchased from Garmin over the years. The latest I have is AUNZ 2011.10 for my Nuvi 1490T which was a "One time update" from their website.
In XP there is many places to poke map data, eg:C:\ My Docs>Garmin>Custom Waypoints.
C:\ Docs and Settings>All Users>Application Data> Garmin>Maps> ect ect.
Also C:\Garmin>.
But in Win7 Pro some of these folders either dont exist or have a name change.
I have spent much time trying various fixes but nothing works.
Have'nt had any luck from Garmin Aust' either, they don't have an email support address that I can find and don't appear to want to answer their 1800 number either.
I am not a computer whiz so I need a helping hand here please.
Thanks in advance.

With Windows XP:
"City Navigator Australia And New Zealand NT 2011.10.gmap" folder is under
\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\GARMIN\Maps\*.*
With Vista and windows 7:
Copy "City Navigator Australia And New Zealand NT 2011.20.gmap" or all your GMAP folders into
\PROGRAMDATA\GARMIN\Maps\ *.*
you need to enable hidden folders
or you can do any of these
You can however copy the Gmap folder anywhere onto the your hard drive you wish
like into the GARMIN folder or Mapsource folder or programfiles\garmin etc
all you need to to is run "mapreverse" and it will install the map to your registry
to work with mapsource etc
Mapreverse can be found
simple to use
If you get or have a locked GMAP you can use GMAP UNLOCKER to unlock the maps rather than using keygens etc
so if you want to unlock a previous Gmap folder you have then just copy these files in the folder and run the batch file
GMAP unlocker can be found
