    Nah I have done a few other boxes. This one I got a bit blaza and left some solder connecting leg 3. So I put it all back to how it was to start with. But it still does the same thing now as what it done when I connected 3rd leg to earth.

    You need to get your hands on a meter even a cheepy from the warehouse
    for $7

    I did this mod on my friends strong 4658x a few days ago it has the ST8004 chip & the heat problem. Now his comments are that the card runs cooler in the box than it does out of the box.

    I think he's joking of course, thanks for the uncomplicated fix eyesee .

    Something thin like wire wrap wire is good.

    Do we know what processor is in these whitey's that causes it to overheat at 5 volts?

    It would appear unlikely that it is an Atmel AT90SC7272, as other Atmel secure processors don't seem to overheat like this card.

    Any ideas?
