Default Heat to electricity conversion with a coat of paint

I have always been a big fan of the idea to generate electricity directly from heat and there seems to be a serious break through.

This looks as simple as spraying a car's exhaust with couple of layers of conductive material with a layer of polyphenyl ether molecules in between and your generating electricity, heaps of it!
We can engineer any kind of polymers (even in garage labs) so I can see this happening and being optimised very soon, especially if enough ppl are aware of this and work on it.

Why even bother around with solar cells, just paint it directly on the whole colour bond roof.
Update: A deletion of features that work well and ain't broke but are deemed outdated in order to add things that are up to date and broken.
Compatibility: A word soon to be deleted from our dictionaries as it is outdated.
