Ring your local computer guy to have a look at it.

if Microsoft essentials is giving you problems try to uninstall it, and see if this solves your problem.

If you don't know exactly what you are doing with the computer, it's best not to attempt any changes/fixes yourself, as you risk making a small problem a very big problem, or losing everything on your hard drive.

In your circumstances hamguy2, I'd strongly recommend following Sanity's advice... have a local computer tech sort it out for you.

    Hamguy.

There is a tricky application called google...try a search for it, it may take you a while, but you will find it..

When you get there...type in microsoft security essentials error number 0x80070715into the search box, and then click google search.

There are a lot of answers there, even some from a mob called microsoft.

System Restore could be your friend, but from reading all your previous posts that's all i would recommend
When you do things right, people won't be sure that you have done anything at all

You don't need to reformat the hard drive unless the drive itself has serious system errors.
OS issues don't necessitate a reformat.

I have never understood why people think that reformatting is the magical 'cure-all' to sort out every problem.

I believe that some people understand reformatting as in wipe everything off and reinstall, but anyway if you you were to reinstall windows again why not format as well, just to make sure everything is well?
