    Hey Guys,

Is it possible to sign up to a voip provider and still keep my fixed line phone number through the voip?

I am with Engin ( and have been for a number of years ) and still have my PSTN number. I only use my engin voip number to ring out on, everyone else has our normal phone number and rings us on that to the same phone.

    Hope that help.

Like Sanity has posted, would ONLY suggest porting a fixed line number to VOIP if you are:

    1) Extremely happy with the VOIP service you are subscribed to
    2) No longer require you land-line connection -> i.e. Naked Internet connection

A lot of VOIP providers allow you to overstamp your VOIP line with your fixed line number, in that you call others using the VOIP service and the recipent will see your land-line number on the caller ID!
