    Default MIO C520 Innaccurate maps

    Hi all.

Has anyone an accurate Aust map for a Mio C520.
I have just bought a C520 and have found mapping errors.
Is there an accurate map out or is the mapping rehashed from the past.

The Highway between traralgon and Yarram was diverted because of the coal mine in 2003 yet the mio still says it is there, Also Traralgon South streets are not listed yet the XNAV has them but that is a route 66 program.

The old highway is cut at Taylor crescent Traralgon, and the road between there and farmers lane is gone.
The highway now goes from showgrond area of traralgon and goes between Loy Yang A and B power stations

    Hi Brer Bear,

This is the same old Sensis V's Navteq problem that has been argued about and complained about since GPS units began hitting the shelf!!

You'll probably find that your Mio is running Sensis WhereIs maps, which are great if you live in one of the major cities. (Sensis is Telstra by the way...need I say more!! LOL)

Your XNav with Route66 will be running Navteq maps, which are better in rural areas...but not so great in the Major cities.

Not really much that can be done except running Senis for Big Cities, and Navteq for your rural travels.

I believe that when they release a new map, they just use the old maps as a base, put the new roads in and ship it for sale to the general public, i mean out my way, (South West QLD) Sensis map shows roads that have been gone for around 20 years, but the Navteq maps don't show quite so many!

    Regards
    Brian Bradnell

Same problem in perth. Have a major shopping centre located at smack bang on the freeway and the GPS goes crazy once you approach it.
