Fausto and irserver run fine in a virtual machine under ubuntu.
What am I missing?
I'm successful in getting it to run. When I tell it to have a look at my jaycar phoenix though, it says it can't id the card.
It then appears to lock up...
Are there any programs I can run in ubuntu to look at the card?

OK, I've got Fausto running under XP on a virtualbox now...
Still no luck though...
When it was running under WINE it would come back to me and basically spit out "Checking for Irdeto Card, Checking or Viaccess card, etc"
Now it just throws an error saying something along the lines of "FE Could not detect a card"
I've mapped the serial port in virtualbox to /dev/ttyS0. mapping it to S1, S2, S3 all throw errors on boot...
Is there anything else I need to do?
EDIT:
Is it possible to communicate with the card through putty to at least test that my serial port is working?
I'm sure this is the same machine I programmed my cisco router with though...

Well I thought so - but a little research I did shows that the serial interface is not as informative/interactive as say USB!
My initial thoughts were to try and ensure that the serial port is working in Ubuntu before going the next step in VirtualBox. Unfortunately I can not provide the definitive solution to 'tick' this step.

No worries...
Will drag out the router and plug it in and boot it up.
Then I'll fire up putty within windows within virtualbox and do the same...
So I diverted from my plans a little this afternoon...
I got out putty, plugged in the card reader and mashed the keypad. The activity light flashed on the card reader.
So I fired up oscam.
I'm now getting the following error...
2010/10/12 18:21:24 4481 r01 ERROR: Could not read reader->convention
