mastera V to the dm500 via 9 pin serial rs232 cable
started pid logger and no go
the ip address in dm pid logger is the same as the one in my dreambox so i left it as is. the ip address is 192.168.0.0
port is 31338 and pid is 0500
when i click on logger tab and click start i can cannot connect to server
what am i doing wrong
could you please give me a step by step quick tutorial on how to get this up and running in point form as it is really doing my head in.
p.s. do i have to have the mastera v connected and have a card in it or no please also advise me on this and do i have it connected to dm500 or to pc.

With a direct connection from 500 to pc you use the crossover cable. Can you connect to the box by any means (telnet, ftp, browser)?
If you have a softcam running try killing that and connecting. Some softcams make it hard for a logger to connect.
i tried pinging it and i get destination host unreachable packets send 4 received 0 lost 4 100% loss. i am using a xp machine which i have just formatted and finished installing 5 mins ago i have nothing in it except windows xp pro sp2 32 bit. i decided to start fresh so there is not conflicts with programs and using my laptop now to communicate with you for help.
so can we please go step by step
i have a jcg 10/100/1000m gigabit ethernet switch now that i just connected.
i have the pc lan cable going from pc to switch and another lan cable going from switch to dm
the network settings on dm are
Enable network ticked
DHCP not ticked
IP 192.168.1.15
Netmask 255.255.255.0
nameserver 192.168.1.1
gateway 192.168.1.1
i have turned off cccam and rebooted dm
and firewall is off on dm
on the xp machine i have nothing except plain XP SP2 os and nothing else at all installed. It is not even connected to the internet as i wish to have the xp machine off the internet when logging. (is this possible ?)
could you please guide me step by step in laimens terms on what to do from here
i appreciate your patience with me and please forgive my lack of knowledge as i am trying to learn
p.s. what does it mean when u get socket error msg and how do i fix this

I'm not sure from your post whether you've pinged before or after installing the switch.
I'd suggest trying to get 2 pc's communicating through the switch then try the dreambox.
Sounds like you've only got 1 pc and the dreambox? No Router or other DHCP server?
How do you connect to the internet, is it shared with any other devices?
If you DO NOT have a router/modem with inbuilt DHCP, do the following.
Plug the pc to the switch, plug the dreambox to the switch.
On the PC set:
IP: 192.168.5.1
subnet: 255.255.255.0
DNS 0.0.0.0
gateway/router: 0.0.0.0
On the Dreambox set:
IP: 192.168.5.2
subnet: 255.255.255.0
DNS 0.0.0.0
gateway/router: 0.0.0.0
You should now be able to ping the dreambox and view the web interface/ftp etc.
If you DO have a router/modem with DHCP, then in a command prompt type 'ipconfig /all' (without quotes) and paste the output for us to see.
your ip needs to be the same except for the last number
change 1 or the other
sometimes using the dream ip as the gateway on the pc helps
what do you get when you ping the dream
1: you must have a dsl modem or else you could not post
2: you say you have a switch
3: connect modem to port 1 on the switch
4: connect dream to switch
5: connect pc to switch
6: both should now have ips given to them by the modem
7: go to setting on the dream with your remote and get the ip
8: get a copy of emk logger
9: start emk logger and enter ip of the dream + correct pid and separator for the package your logging
10: start and finished.
dont say linux if i wanted it id install it
i managed to get the logging to work it was because my modem was not reset and i had the wrong pid. now i got ird log extract to log however i cannot find where it is saving the log files. i checked the settings but not sure what field to put the directory in. and what to call the folder so program knows where to save the logs so then i can go in and open in notepad.
somebody mentioned to get emk logger . could you please provide a link to it or pm me
these are the settings i did with log ird extract. it is logging for not saving log for some reason
Options menu
log files
log folder just make it the same folder where ird extract is
tick log window
tick emm type
below type UBI.txt or mysat.txtvor whatever provider i am logging
leave everything else alone here
save
Then tick log all hsn
add your hsn
press + button to save your hsn
start logging
wait for results in filter tree
i get nothing in the filter tree however heaps of hsns are processed but not being saved to a file.
what am i doing wrong.

If you are using MS Windows on your computer, why not use the in-built SEARCH facility (Start>Search>All files and folders) to find where the log files have been stored?
1/. You can use wildcards, so search for something like *.log.
2/. In addition, use the "When was it modified" function within Search in order to limit results to the date when you did your logging (Start>Search>All files and folders>When was it modified?>Specify dates).
3/. If your logging program does not use the "log" file extension (.log), simply use the wildcard *.* and limit the search to files modified (created) on the date you did your logging, as in point 2/. above.
thx will try that but the thing it did not create the file
by the way i have tried both ird log extrat and emk logger where do they save the log file by default and what is it called

mine says C:\Program Files (x86)\Ird_EMM_Extractor_v1.98\ but when i look there is nothing there.
i am using win7 x64 the program logs no problem but does not save the log file . can u please tell me your exact settings under options then Log files what should be ticked and what should not be ticked and what goes in what field ie ubi.txt etc so i can check mine and fix if necessary.
thx in advance
All I have ticked is EMM Type and have them called "Emm's"
IRD EMM Extractor Tool 1.98
This is what i have
Log folder
C:\Program Files (x86)\Ird_EMM_Extractor_v1.98\
Log Window File ticked
C:\Program Files (x86)\Ird_EMM_Extractor_v1.98\
Raw Binary (all blank no tick)
Raw ASCII *all blank no tick)
EMM Type ticked
Ubi.txt
and all the RAW DATA (blank no ticks)
but it still will no generate a log file for me even though it shows it is logging.
after i click save i go to main page and this is what i have
log all hsn temms to window ticked
log prov ticked
which setting is wrong and istopping generation of log file.?
Should work like that.
Have you tried a search on your pc for Ubi.txt ?
You could also try changing the location you save the file to (like try your dekstop)
yeah i know. but it doesn't. now i am using Dreambox_EMK_Logger which seems to be working.
could you please advice me the pid and seperator for ubi, select and austar and which is the best channel to log on on each one of these providers so i can practice logging.
