Hey Guys,
After a total rewire of the Microtech system (after bad install from previous mechanic) it was back to Dalton Automotive for more power tuning.
Vehicle specs are Mazda Rx7 Series 8 13B Large Extend port, TA51 Single, Large V Mount IC ,Microtech.
Last Dyno tune the car made 222rwkw on 8psi @ 7000rpm BP 98 pump fuel. Now that I've fixed all the Microtech wiring issues it was time to turn up the boost.
We we aiming for around 270rwkw and achieved it no probs..
The car made 275rwkw on 12.5 psi @ 7100prm using BP Ultimate 98 Pump Fuel. Really happy to make that power on only 12.5 psi.
The car ran extremely consistently, we did around 20 power runs in the 2 hours. The TA51 and V Mount IC worked a treat. Intake air temps were great and engine water temp was all good. Nice to know the engine is strong and is setup safe.
Check out the vid.....
The car starts to walk on the dyno now.....

Big thanks to Chris at Dalton Automotive for his time, effort and Rotary tuning know how!
Cheers.

Good result! is it just a weekend car or do you plan on doing some club events?
I just found out my wiring to the crank angle sensor is all up shit creek, so I need to organise a auto elec to find fault and fix ASAP!

Nice one mate!
What are you using for boost control?
Id recommend a HKS EVC VI, the units have 2 stages of level, step motors to control and avoid boost spikes, and the nice bit is they have a scramble boost button that you can mount on the steering wheel.
I just bought one a week ago, have not mounted it yet but everyone is carrying on at how good they are at controlling the boost where you want it on 2 levels plus a preset scramble boost.

Thanks Godzilla...yes very happy with the numbers at that boost level. Thanks for the EBC recommendations.
The car already had fitted (from the previous owner) a Gizzmo EBC....which actually is working really well.
I have the MS-IBC. It has duty cycle and gain adjustments.....we just went up in duty cycle increments of 10 until we got to a power and boost level we liked. It also has a scramble function....but I don't think I'll use it...I'm too old for that shit...haha...It has 6 memory settings so we kept the 8 psi 222rwkw setup for slow days...
275rwkw is plenty for that car on the street....more power may not actually make it any faster....just harder to drive!...The turbo and engine setup can easily do more, but probably getting close to the fuel supply limit with only an in tank Bosch fuel pump and SX filter....
Cheers.

Which pump, if you need more look at the Bosch 044.
15 amp draw, rated at 700hp each.
If you need even more, run 2 in parallel.
The previous owner just told me it has a Bosch in tank pump....dunno which model..haven't looked as yet. It has a SX fuel filter and regulator. Fuel pressure was good during the runs...hovering around 40psi under full load...The pump didn't show any signs of not keeping up, we just thought 275 was plenty for the current setup.....did it easy hehe..
The Bosch 044 sounds good....If there's one thing this car likes it's fuel...hahah
Ha ha, HP means lots of fuel usage....secret is to have a good low boost tune and drive it off boost, save the high boost and scrambled boost button for those annoying V8's with Chev badges.
(even though in most cases low boost is more than enough to piss them off)
Sounds good Mate,
The Rx7 off boost drives like stock.....very nice base tune by Dalton...you can cruise around all day.
Yes when it comes to Chevrolet Commonwhores even my low boost Xr6 Turbo blows them away..8-).....gotta love it!
Love the car mate. I had an RX4 when I was in my early 20's, man they really hammer
And drink fuel

Thanks Sanity, Yes you either love or hate Rotaries...I owned an Rx3 Coupe for 14 years before this car..It's very different experience driving a Rotary, especially in the 70s and 80s they were way ahead of other small sports cars....(provided you didn't mind and engine rebuild every 40,000km! haha)
Ray at Gizzmo makes some really good gear! you can't go wrong with anything from Gizzmo.
I have always loved Rotaries, I never bought one because of the maintenance associated with them, but when I look back at the cars I've owned I would have probably been better off with a Rotor.
I took a Series 4 RX7 for a boot when I was 18, extend port 13b, pretty much stock, and that was spinning the treads easily in 3rd around corners! 1st was was like a smoke machine!!!

Oh no.
I can see a Rotory VS Piston argument brewing in the near future.
What goes around....

Great engines, they use to make great entertainment on Friday nights at Calder park when i was younger. (and other racetrack World wide)
Not for the right reasons though....... (sorry had to have a dig at them)
Some people use to say Brap, Brap, we used to say Brap, Brab, BANG.
