    Default W7 boot MGR missing.

SisterRadio just called for advice but I am not yet across W7 .. on start up she gets msg Boot MGR missing. She can bypass it by entering setup and selecting the HDD manualy, but how can she fix it.

Take the CD or DVD out of the CD or DVD player and then reset the BIOS not to boot from CD/DVD first.

    ..... or what Phil said

Tried the above .... only option given is press f8 to select boot device ... HDD highlighted .. press enter to continue ... no option offered to save.

Edit: After pressing enter it does offer an option to run recovery .... don't want to do that last time she did it it took me two days to fumble through it and get it right for her.

Hit the DEL key on startup and change boot options in there. F1 or F2 on laptops from memory.

This is one of those mongrel Medion all in one touch screen thingys from Aldi. Anyone know for sure how to get into bios .. I have to instruct her on the phone on what to do so I need to be a bit sure of my ground .... because computer literate she isn't. If she was she wouldn't have a Medion, would she?

Should be F2 at turn on.

The big problem you'll have is working out in the bios where the boot select is via the phone.

That wouldn't be a problem if the drive isn't too far.

Hey if she has the owners manual It may show her how to get into it and what setting she has to change. Even if she has to scan the pages and email them to you so you can see what she has to do.

Try tapping the Del key at startup. I think that's the correct key for Medions.
Also, try Ctrl-Alt-Esc, Ctrl-Alt-S and Ctrl-Alt-Ins. These are for the Phoenix BIOS

Medion PCs/laptops are badged generic units usually sourced from China and your best bet is to inquire on the Medion website for the correct key to get into your system's BIOS as it is likely to vary depending upon the particular model. IIRC the last Medion laptop I worked on used F11 key for the BIOS.
