    Default Wasabi?

There is supposed to be a new modchip out called Wasabi. Does anyone have any information on how good it is?

quite a good chip , 6 or 9 wires will work on all models including the D2C models .
also good in older models with the cut legs as it uses different points if you do not want to grind your ic down .
Personally I would wait for the next D2C pro release which is also of 6 or 9 wires (6 for install 9 for full multi region)
only since they have a very good track record

agreed Chippy, but for really stable track record, you cannot beat the ever trusty D2CKey.

righto guys , no more offers to sell anything in this forum , we have the BS&T to do that
if you feel the need that you have too , then do it via pm or the BS&T .
ALL the forums are for help not selling , offering to send , offering to fix etc etc
So please in the future try to refrain from doing so as it may well lead to the deletion of the post
this goes for any forum I see it in

Some dont work well on D2C drives...to ovecome it u either need to instal a switch between GND & J(cant remember now,,,probaly on there website) to initialize the drive( sympton is disks wont insert) or better still instal a cap between these 2 points for a permanent fix......had to find this out the hard way the other day

Your choice really, they are both good chips. If you have cut pins though the Wasabi would be the easier chip to install.

Wiikey is far more cost effective for D2A/D2B drives

Argon or D2Pro is better for D2C as it can be FULLY updated/reflashed

BTW; Argon & D2PRO can also be used on all versions (but nobody wants to bother because of cost)

You will notice the Wasabi start to die out - they had a great pre-launch marketing campaign, but the chip just doesn't cut it.

Dont the more expencive chips (D2Pro, Wasabi, and Argon) have better region free compatabilities than the wiikey?

Doesnt seem to be the case from the feedback ive been getting from some customers. I thought that was the case myself originally but they seem to be leaning towards media and the way the game is burnt to disk. Some have also commented that the freeloader disk has been great at games that wouldnt work to load and play fine.

Personally I think as long as the Wasabi team keep up with the firmware upgrade to fix known issues they will stick around for a long time to come.

Actually its 100% exactly the same, for all region free modchips
