    Default Australia's population and growth

What are your thoughts on this ? Its an interesting suggestion that we should be limited to 2 children whilst bringing in skilled migrants ( I dont think it says much about how we train people ). Its also interesting to see the total change of direction between Rudd and Gillard with Rudd wanting a big Australia and Gillard going in the opposite direction.

It also makes me think about a question I put up a few months ago that didnt get many replies in regards to what do we do when we are either " full " or at a predetermined level that we call full. Australia runs on growth, how do we deal with almost zero growth when we put the brakes on population ?

Two kids per couple is fine with me as long as its not retrospective....

I'd hate to have to choose which 4 to cull...although the females may be the obvious choice. Eliminate the nagging in one go, halve the bills, and save the country 8 potential mouths to feed in the future.

    Cheers

I think decentralization is the only way to deal with it but until long term employment opportunities combined with affordable housing become available in remote areas Australia's growth will continue to be limited.

Interesting point in that article is the majority of the population are opposed to higher taxes to support the elderly yet there was nothing in there about throwing money at families to have more children (Baby bonuses, FTB, Paid maternity leave...)

Personally I would rather see Australia put the brakes on population for a few years.

let 'em breed as much as they want. The cull will come regardless.

Hehe, second all that. It would sure be quieter around here without EmoGirl, PubertyBluer, StompSister and Princess Me-ah.
Quieter, but nowhere as much fun...

Sadly, probably true....glowing in the dark whilst getting eaten alive by some radiation resistant man made pathogen.....and no virgins at the end of the line either....
