Hi Windy, Leroy and All
About this new service on IS 701.
This is a start of Digital TV service for all French Overseas Territories the end of November.
Canal Caledonia will be in charge to deliver this service to remote areas via Satellite.
Yes, they upgraded to DVB S 2,minimum S/R 45000 and a lot of HD ,some channels will go (Tempo Wallis, Polynesia, and Caledonia) to make place to the new bouquet called TNT SAT(similar to our digital TV (8 channels all public broadcasters) the end of November , 4 or 8 commercial channels will be added next year .
They will run on viacces 4, people from French Overseas Territories will be able to purchase a MPEG 4 HD box plus a smart card; this smart card will be running for 4 years and in France costs 40 Euros.
Why 4 years, Canal Caledonia thinks that if there is no hacking on their system in 4 years time things will not change and people do not have to purchase a new smart card
According to a local newspaper in Noumea this service will start test transmissions around November 28th and will be effective November 30th.
Enjoy ………………..
Michell
Just had news for those test transmissions they will begin on the 23/11/10 not on 28/11/10

Hi,
I should be able to get access to cards from a friend in New Caledonia. Does anyone know who in Oz would sell boxes capable of watching those channels?
Leroy's Mediastar?
DM500HD?
Cheers,
Jester

Have you tried? I was lead to believe that someone tried one and it worked unlike the DM800.

You are right I was confusing this with the dm800. It looks like the dm500hd does work on the sr with a bit of research. Thats good news that had evaded me.
The Ultraplus 980 HD bought from Leroy works extremely well on this bouquet.
Please note that I am not a subscriber with LBF Canal Caledonia, all Radios, Canal + Cine cinema and Canal+ HD come extremely well when they are FTA late afternoon.
For your info, I had some news from Noumea about this Viacces 4 card.
They are now selling STB "compatible and approved” with the new TNTsat service and they ship to OZ and NZ
To give you an idea of the price:
They sell Pace-Phillips Decoder: 42000 CFP
I think it is the DS08 not very impressive without any PVR function; they call them digital ready and Canal compatible and approved.
I asked if it is possible to order a decoder with a PVR function, they said yes and it will cost the same price, and will be available around Dec 20th, they could not give me the brand name or specifications.
Viacces 4 Card: 2000 CFP
Postage + Insurance 10000 CPF
Total 54000 CFP in OZ dollars ~~~ $ 630.00
It is not possible to only order the smart card, it comes with the decoder.
I will keep you posted if I have more news.

Hi Simey,
It is not possible to just buy the Viaccess card; they come with the decoder, like the VAST service in OZ.
The Aston Simba HD is built for New Caledonia and it is a very good box manufactured in France, they are getting cheaper now around 350 Euros. The smart card is permanent and you do not have to renew your subscription.
Please contact Antelec: mur.antelec-nc@canl.nc
And The Sopena here:
Please let me know if you need help writing a message in French, I will be happy to help.

ATM the symbol rate on 10976 h looks like it has gone back to 30000. Neither 10976 or 11612 have feeds right now. Other transponders and providers are normal.
Forget above post it turned out to be a slowly deteriorating sat dish.
I think that people need to be careful in buying this box. A question need to be asked before buying this box. Make sure that you can get other services as well as canalsat. My daughter has a subscription with canalsat and you cannot use their box to receive other services except canalsat. I think it would be a good idea to double check before buying the box.
Michell keep you good work and try to know what you can do with this box.
For those interested, Mediastar at ingleburn will receive a new receiver similar to the dream box very soon. It will allow MPEG4 and will have two tuners (which you can choose to either one for local stations( that is use as a hd box) and the other for satellite or you may have two satellites tuners). it will have a USB allowing connection to a hard disk drive as a pvr. If you hwant to have a look they have a demo model on show.
thanks regards
Philo
