    Default VAST screenshots

Apologies about the quality of the screenshots. The DM800 doesn't seem to show them in full resolution, unlike the 500.

Anyway, VAST was free-to-air last night for a couple of hours, so I had a look around and took some screenshots.

Test 1, 2 and 3 are currently showing WA channels:

7mate and GEM are online, shown on SCTV HD Central and Nine HD Central respectively. 7mate is the same as Darwin and Tassie's version, showing a scenic loop instead of advertising during breaks.

Regional News 1 is online, but the quality is worse than YouTube. Pixelation, tinny audio, the works. My screenshots are bad so it's not really noticeable. They must have some Windows 7 Home PC running the channel on a loop in Media Player. When one bulletin finishes, the next one starts immediately, and all local promos and advertising is kept intact. Last night I managed to see WIN News Mildura followed by Southern Cross News GTS/BKN.

Everything else was as it seems. All channels online and in widescreen, including all SD and HD simulcasts.

Well that's what you would expect given only a 1 Mbps bitrate (which is very low even for H.264).

Is this VAST card in a dreambox? If it is, can you share how you were able to use it in the dreambox or PM if you like. :-)

I would like to put a VAST card in a dreambox too.

If you are referring to the screenshots above.... the post states they were taken when VAST was testing without encryption... eg: no card required at the time.
