I have been asked to see if there is any interest in Austech adding support for android and iphone for members. It would involve installing a small app to your device from the user end of which there is a free version
or a paid for version which I believe is only $1.99 from itunes store
Features :
* Native Android/iPad/iPhone support
* iOS 4 multitasking support
* Browse your favorite forums in an easy-to-use-interface with multiple notification types (private message, subscription, etc)
* Fully customizable home screen with your favorite forums
* FREE PUSH NOTIFICATION SUPPORT : Get private message and subscribed thread updates from your favorite forums in the background!
* Poll updates (private messages/subscriptions) from favorites on home screen - shows you a summary of which forums you have new messages or subscriptions on!
* Graphical display of polls - view results and vote on polls
* Moderation tools for your moderators/admins (close/open thread, stick/unstick thread, move thread, delete posts, etc)
* Image attachment thumbnail and full size viewing from threads
* View a thread's image attachments in one convenient screen (much like the native iPhone "Photo" app)
* Save thread images to your iPhone/iPod touch library
* Fully searchable forums!
* Multi-quote support
* View embedded links without leaving the app, including YouTube videos
* Supports portrait AND landscape mode
* Full posting options (quote posts, start new thread, etc)
* Attach unlimited photos from your library (or take a photo from the camera and attach it)
* Full support for private messages and private message folders
* Full support for thread subscriptions - track your favorite threads and be updated via push when they have new posts!
I will post further information if there is interest.

Yep,
Def. Interested
More info on the free and paid version can be found at
The free version is read only, but the paid version has some pretty cool features. PM pop up alert could be very handy as could instant thread notification if you are interested in an item for sale in BST.
If there is sufficient interest and it goes ahead there will be a mailout to all members ( who allow us to send emails to them ) to advise them that its available.
Sounds good
When you do things right, people won't be sure that you have done anything at all
I'd use it.
yep for ipod/iphone be cool

Statistically, if you wait long enough, everything will happen!
Just installed it on my iPhone 4 and works quite well, pretty easy to navigate and search their forums, I had to sign up...lol. But it's not too bad at all.
Would certainly make austech easier to post and access with the iPhone as I have always seemed to find the iPhone browser a pain to use.

How about the Tapatalk add-on. A couple of forums I frequent have this add-on installed and its fantastic for the Iphone.
How does that work tez and how is it any different to the 2 ( VB and forumrunner ) mentioned so far ? I am not an iphone user so cant personally comment on how any stack up.
The VB one seems to be a more standalone app. So users need to download a seperate app.
With Tapatalk, you can connect to multiple forums running VB as long as the add on is installed. Has a nice and easy interface to use, very much similar to the VB app.
I havent used forumrunner, although it looks similar to Tapatalk.
Safari browser on iPhone & Atom on iPad. Both work well enough for forums for me.
QUOTE= Features :
* Native Android/iPad/iPhone support
* iOS 4 multitasking support
Please confirm, if i download itunes on my Pc ,and download the above app,the app will work on my HTC Desire (android Phone)
Thanks AUSTARMAN
I'd be keen as if the staff here were willing to use Tapatalk, I already have it set up for a couple of other forums I use.
I'd use the Android version of Forumrunner....
