    Hi, i am trying to recover my emails from outlook express after a fiasco.

    C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{12345678-1234-ABCD-EFGH-1234567890AB}\Microsoft\Outlook Express

    * [username] = each user should have their own set of .dbx files.
    * {12345678-1234-ABCD-EFGH-1234567890AB} = represents a unique alphanumeric string.

    Just try searching for *.dbx

    I found it a pain to go through all the sub folders or do a search for *.dbx files so I created a new folder called Outlook Express under the c:\ drive.

    Then tools/options/maintainence in Outlook Express program and changed the store folder to the newly created one above.

    Easier to find and backup.

    run search files & folders do a search for inbox when you find it should be able to send to my docs then will need a dbx viewer to open & read it. OEViewer a freeby on download.com works ok. I had this problem when Xp crashed over easter couldn't get it to repair install properly so had to install over the top with out formating, then couldn't get my inbox files back into outlook kept telling me they were in use.
