You are better off switching to iGo 8.3 as I am pretty sure new maps for version 8 dont exist.
Can someone link me up with the newest Australian Map for the older Igo 8.0x?
My current map r15 is way out of date and most of the links put up for maps are for the igo 8.3 and these maps don't work.

I had 8.3 and I didn't like it as much as 8.0. Loaded slower, screwed up more regularly and didn't say street names. Perhaps its my Chinese GPS unit but 8.0 runs far better.
What about Primo? I had a go at that and couldn't get it to go on my unit. If anyone has the black 4'3 Chinese gps unit commonly available on ebay and has primo up and running on it, I would appreciate the working sys file.
Hi Cowboy,
I've gotten primo to run on my chinese unit - haven't gone for a drive to check how it works yet though. My sys.txt is as follows. not sure what the device type does. the extra settings gives a chemical bottle on screen with some extra settings - so far I don't see what it does that's useful.
The key was getting the [gps] bit as the downloads point to port 1 which won't work with mine.
I also had to find a suitable resolution to merge into the data file - but it seems to be operational.
Now i'm trying to sort out POI's and such - total novice at all this!
[device]
type="navon_N480"
[interface]
show_exit=1
extra_settings=1
[gps]
port="2"
baud="4800"
I have a Binatone Z430 (WinCE5 and I think only 128M RAM) running Primo, Amigo and 8.0
Primo is a bit slower. Amigo works a treat but of course lacks the "Truck" profile setup that Primo has
I don't use 8.0 now because the map is too old
Amigo and Primo have spoken street names but you have to set it up to work. Mine has only ever said one street name, so there must be something wrong in my settings.
If you can't run with the DOGS, Stay on the Porch
Try this. Copy of my backup 8.3.2 and 4 exe inc
add your R17 or Q2 map.
Q2
Adj sys.txt for your res etc.
TTS works on 64k 2 din in car, win ce5 and 6
Use Simon.

Hi mate,
Do you have a Data.zip that will work with 320x240 res for my chin GPS?
Thanks
Mike
What's the difference between the R17 and 2010Q2?
The R17 GPS Map is put out by Sensis/Whereis which is a subsiduary company of Telstra I believe. They are connected to the makers of UBD Street Directories. TomTom use Sensis maps for their AU map although they don't call it R17, they call the current one v855.xxxx
The 2010Q2 GPS Map is put out by Navteq who are in competition with Sensis. It appears that they source a lot of their data from the same people that put out the Melway/Sydway/Brisway type of Street Directories. If you run Igo Software on your GPS it can use the Navteq Map. Igo can also run the Sensis Map but not at the same time on the one device. You can manually change the maps over anytime you like but you have to exit Igo to do it.
If you run Igo Primo you can set it up with a Mapchanger utility that will allow you to switch between the 2 different map providers more easily.
Some people swear by Sensis, others by Navteq. Personally I have found Sensis to be better in the city and Navteq in the sticks. Although at the moment the Sensis R17 does not have the new massive flyover intersection at the junction of Centenary & Ipswich Motorways or the New Go-Between Bridge over the Brisbane River here in SEQ, Yet the latest R17.1 Map as used in my Igo does have all these new road improvements.
Hopefully the new Tomtom v860 (R18?) just released but not yet freely available will have those improvements?
Hope this answers your question.
Regards Mike

Thanks Mike. Sounds like it's a pretty subjective topic
