Default Best STB for Whitey/Sellers card

What is the best STB for a sellers/white card in relation to keeping the card coolest, enough features and auto updating.

... I found the best 'box' and value for money in terms of features and ease of operation and running gamma at the specified +3V ... is a STRONG 4658X

... the ..58X has a built-in CAM slot ... which makes this receiver a little more useful for future non IR2 mode of operation ...

... best price I've seen is $130 ... but many sell for $140

A good value receiver for sure!

would the 4658x also work with NDS? I know weird set-up but I like being able to watch interstate FTA channels.

Are Matrix Cams easily available in Australia. I just did a google search and didn't see anything.

... the STRONG is you best bet for a turnkey solution - it will AU and work 100% with a gamma ...

the DM is a great solution also - but has its quirks ...

    1. Its not turnkey - it needs configuring and all the emus need to 'run' properly.
    2. For the AU to work you will need to experiment with the right emu - not all will AU a gamma.
    3. You will need an external phoenix interface connected via the serial port on the DN - if you want to use gamma ... it will NOT work via the built-in card reader - N*S card will work in the internal card reader.

If you are not a 'techie' or supplying the 'box' to a person who is not a 'techie' - you can bet you last $ that they will have a problem with it ... even something simple like not switching on the phoenix before the DM is powered-up can cause no picture on screen

If you like 'fiddling' and watching stuff on various transponders - the DM is hard to beat ...

Many members have 'both' - one turnkey system and one to fiddle with and help others on this forum ... it's fun and enjoyable for some of us

Hope the above comments are helpful ...

What's the difference between the Octagon 318 and 518. Is it just the 518 has CI slots?

octagon is just as easy to use as a strong, will au and work 100% with a gamma, and an aurora wafer or a fox card....

    I’ve just received a octagon 518..
swinging on motech...pretty good all rounder so far but problems with whitie stalling on C1 about every minute and restarting after about 10sec using embedded and external ci's (the old fake EMK's)

Currently using v3.20 but I have try couple of other firmware versions with no joy...

Any suggestions to help me bed this would be appreciated......

    thx all.
