    Default PS3 1080i vs 1080p

    Hi

I was just wondering if there is much difference in the graphical quality running the PS3 on a TV through a HDMI cable on a TV at 1080i - 1366x728 (i think) and 1080p - 1920x1080

I have had my PS3 via HDMI to a Sony 42" 1080i display and now a Sony Bravia 42" 1080p display. There isn't much in it unless you would to be really picky.
To be honest, it comes down to material more than anything.

on a large tv capable of doing it p is a hell of lot better than i
    interlaced , progressive whatever
does not make a huge difference on smaller panels , but as the get bigger it is a huge difference

true , 42" and below , it is pretty much samo samo , but as you get larger the 1080p is by far a lot better .
It is just hard to describe unless you see it yourself

And inversely proportional is how crap SD and low res video formats look on large 1080p displays. i.e.: Foxtel on a 65" 1080p display (even with scalers)

Until everything becomes 1080p there will always be pros and cons for 1080p displays.

It's a balance between screen res, screen size, video format and seating distance...... My friends just bought a 1080p Projector and runs his PS3 via HDMI to it, he is raving about how good it is and his screen is 120". I am yet to visit and see for myself, but he is fussier than me.... So it must be good.

So to concur with what ozchips has said, if its larger than 42”, go 1080p, if it is smaller, 1080i will be very hard to tell the difference

I agree oceanboy , with all the standards all over the joint people will be wqondering what the hell they bought all the digital stuff for when analogue gets turned off
fox is shite on any tv over 80cm crt included , and then although sd looks great on a crt tv , it is crap on anything else
I seen foxtel at one of the shopping centres and they had 50 odd inch screens , I made the comment they will not sell that much with a shit picture like that , the dude actually had half an idea what I was on about , his partner was reading all the bs parrot from the form . He reckons he was just doing it for the moeny as he is a dutch backpacker and he was going on aboutthe shit we get told is good tv and good quality picture over here lmao
