Do you get banned from live only if you are playing games?

Hi Guys,
I am new to the Xbox360 world and recently bought an '08 60gb Pro and are toying with the idea of getting it modded. In the future I may also want to use foxtel through it, the question is if I get my Xbox modded to play backups but DONT do any online gaming can you still get banned from Live? The way I understand it you need to access live to install the foxtel side of things.

Any help would be great!

Mate have you updated the dashboard you got with that 60GB Pro?

If not, depending on your current dash version you may be able to JTAG that baby, if you were capable and did JTAG the unit you'd find much more value in buying a second XBOX 360 on the cheap (unmodded) solely for XBOX Live and some legit multi-player gaming.

Hi, thanks for the reply. The previous owner updated the dashboard and it now has 2.0.8955.0 on it....is that good?

Its not JTagable but you can still mod it to play backups from the dvd drive...maybe wait till LT+ comes out

If you didn't update the dash to 8955, i would have JTAG'd it for ya. My recommendation is keep it as an official console, update to the most recent firmwares/dashes that MS release and so that way in the future, getting foxtel won't be impossible, or extremely difficult.

However, if you ever see yourself getting a X360 slim down the track, then get the DVD drive firmware flashed to iXtreme LT (or LT+) on the older console and play backup games that way...as if that thought of getting a slim were to pop in your head at a later stage, keep the newer console unmodded...trust me, there's a lot of headaches and 'unfortunate' bad news that most discover down the road when looking for a balance ofbeing able to mod their console to the fullest extent and utilise online gaming and NOT getting banned...

simple answer is yes might not be straight away but eventually

also with this ap2.5 security starting to hit now and with c4 sayying he will release his new firmware LT+ pre xmas your best off not paying anyone to do your firmware upgrades yet unless there prepared to redo them FREE of charge in the next month
