I had my old computer died recently so I am now back to square one with a 'new' second hand one and I couldnt get MSE to work, Period as I wanted a Virus checker to go on line.
It would start by wanting to check the computer and 'Thats all she wrote,Folks', it woudlnt go any further and froze.
My copy of XP is a genuine one.
My mate suggested I go to .NET, note the DOT, and go from there which I did and I also went from IE6 to IE8 and I am wondering if IE6 was part of the downloading problem with MSE as well.

Minimum specs for MSE are.....

Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3); Windows Vista (Gold, Service Pack 1, or Service Pack 2); Windows 7*

Windows Internet Explorer 6.0 or later



I'm guessing if your trying to install in on XP sp1,sp2 you might run into a few problems.

Nope, SP3 was installed but it read that the scan used ActiveX and I am wondering if that too wasnt installed and that was another problem ??
Another thing was I had reregistered my copy of XP when it asked just after I connected the computer to the Internet.

mse has been on a machine i built up to be a stay on, teamviewer storage machine, mse runs faultless it is xp sp3 with every bell and whistle i could find mine is mse 2, highly recommended
