    Default Dell Inspiron 6400

My sisters bought a one of these laptops and she is down in NSW. She says its running slow, whcih doesnt suprise me because she has Vista Home Basic on it and only 512mb of RAM in it.

My question is what sort of RAM would i need to replace this with, i dont mean size its more the other number i mean, Front side bus speed is it??

Have a look on Dell's website for specs, think it will take 2GB DDR2-667 (1GB x 2) notebook RAM which is real real cheap at the moment.

Check that is the maximum as I may be wrong.

If future you can always check it with if you want to be sure.

Also these laptops go alright, though as suggested I would probably put XP on it, they are a fair bit snappier with XP. That said you'd want at least a gig of ram in it either way otherwise hibernation is ultra sluggish.
