If you feed ducks at a pond, chances are your bound to feed a goose or two without even knowing it.

When I try those speed test thingys I never get a result because they time out before enough bytes have ambled their way to and fro.

Today is a good day as I have synced the modem at 24400bps !

I would presume speedtest was having a bad hair day. To have speeds that extreme, one would think uploads would be around 8-10Mb/s.

You had me going, until I read your subject line. Nice one.

If true, it would be something to brag about for many years.

bulbous, your 24.4Mb speed would be a dream for most people including myself. Enjoy

Crikey - read it again - that's 24,400 BITS per second (about half as fast as a dialup modem can go)

This is, of course, when the landline works - I have reported it dead 4 times this year.

TELSTRA is not keen on repairing country copper - most technicians are gone forever, but the 'connection' charges remain high whilst service is shithouse.

Wow, that is a double Crikey. Weren't those speeds a dream back in the late 80's. Then the 90's brought us incredible speeds of 56k.
Sorry mate, should have rubbed my eyes to double check what I was reading.

It is a real shame you and others have to put up with such service, or lack of, with no support.
Bugger the cities and burbs, I say bring on the NBN for areas like yours where service and support barely exists.

If only another provider offerred the same mobile coverage, then I would be so happy to say I'm Telstra free.
