Default installing 2 x IDE hard drives, 1 into a SATA slot

Hi all, I need some advice, I have just installed a second hard drive on my system.

using an Asus P5KPL-VM m/board, this board only has the one IDE slot!!!, so I bought a SATA to IDE convertor and now have plugged the 2nd hard drive into the SATA slot.

The M/Board has 4 x SATA slots, 2 are red in colour & the other 2 are black in colour, I'm not sure if I should have the SATA cable plugged into the red or black slot.

Also, as the 2nd drive is not yet recognised I'm wondering if I need to change the jumpers from master to slave on the back of the 2nd hard drive as I was originally using this as the master on my old system.

Ok, system has found the new hdd, I will still need to format now but am not too sure as it was partitioned previously on my old system and I want to unpartion it, I saw a thread previously here on the forum and it relates directly to my situation, so will have a look at that and see how I go.
