Thanks Sanity, I have the UEC POS, and a separate media player (Dune), wanted to get a suitable STB that would do that function as well as VAST but didn't want to take a risk finding that the CAM/card wouldn't work in any old STB.

I have a VU Duo with a 2 TB hard drive that I receive a few sat services through, as well as standard terrestrial through a Sundtek HD USB tuner plugged in to it as well.

Obviously Vast with a cam is getting terribly tempting HD looks fantastic through the Vu Duo and I would be interested to see Vast through it.

yes well, we'll have to wait and see if anyone who has a CAM/card can report back as to it working in a MPEG2 or MPEG4 box

Works in a Strong 4900 box. Only hassle I am trying to work out is why all the commercial channels, NITV, ABC News 24 all work fine but ABC and SBS the picture is fine but no audio at all. Have tried PCM and Dolby to no avail. Any ideas?

I'm pretty sure ABC and SBS channels use AAC for audio. So I would say the 4900 can't decode AAC

Thanks Dazza, thought it might be a Codec issue. I wonder if passing the audio from the box via the optical output to an amp that can decode AAC would solve the issue

I was under the impression HE-AAC audio compliant receivers (both of which the STR4900 & 10 are) played AAC audio. If not I'm glad I put off the idea of buying a vast cam and card!!...

It's only ABC and SBS channels, the rest are fine. ABC 24 is fine too.

This seems to be the case. The UltraPlus receivers are working fine with the ABC and SBS channels as well as all the others.

Seems a bit odd that the ABC would use 2 different Codecs for their transmissions.
I stand unequivicably behind everything I say , I just dont ever remember saying it !!

Add NITV to that list that does't work. Is everything that uses AAC codec. Commercial channels are all MPEG.

LeRoy, what box have you successfully managed to get working with all channels?

H8fg4. You have this working fine for all channels including the ABC and SBS?

    Thanks h8fg4.

Might have to go for this option. I have been playing with my Strong SRT 4900 all day. Tried programming manual channels as it gives you an option for AAC but makes no difference. Would be pleased to hear from anyone that has got all channels including the ABC and SBS working on the Strong SRT 4900. I have the commercial ones going but can't get the ABC and SBS to go at all. Starting to come to the conclusion that it isn't compatiable with AAC after all. Other than that the CAM works well.

All UltraPlus receivers are working fine with all channels (as do the mediastar8200 mentioned) using VAST cams.

Have a Vast cam in my 4910 all video ok, sound only on ABC24,7 Mate,One,Gem,Imparja,Go. No sound on all other Vast ABC,SBS,Ten,Eleven,7Two,SCTV and the Regional news channels which is what I really wanted. I get all ABC & SBS from D1 anyway, All Aurora SD 4/3 is OK. I also now have great Terr signal when the weather is good but not from my local news area. Shame as the 4910 is otherwise a great box with Terr, and 2 cam 1 card slots + pvr. I will try all other firmware I have just in case!
