Is it colour that marks the difference.

Mine is white kappa, and is 5.7 as per efab post

not sure of the reason for the quick change but there must have been something to cause it

I note Humax have released a High Definition Satellite Receiver for Tivùsat Services in Italy. The release was on the 1st of December 2010. The specs on the box look pretty impressive compared to the UEC box currently being sold for Vast service. It would be great to see Humax back in the Sat market and if this box is anything like the trusty old 5410z it should be a solid unit. I hope the third player maybe Humax !!

Thanks for that - have a trusty old 5410 sitting in the garage, which I use for tuning new services and the like but don't use it as no HD. I really think the trick is to get VAST and the regulators to change the video stream/encyption to allow all third party boxes per se.

PS. My recollection about the Hummy on SD services is that it was a notch above the other brands for contrast and resolution (PQ good generally)

    Default 3rd supplier

i was in touch with strong technical support yesterday and they said they were contemplating designing a receiver but it wouldn't be available until later this year. so this begs the question: are strong the third supplier or will there be more than 3.

This may be correct, however is Strong going to pay Irdeto for there x number of emulated irdeto boxes that have been sold in the past? Since they only have a conax registered encryption, and emulate every thing else. I am not having a go. Just pointing out some points to consider!

    Default 3rd supplier

i really don't care who the other supplier(s) is as long as they produce a decent box with reasonable pvr specifications. i have an emtech 300 running aurora and have had it since 2002. hasn't missed a beat.

I can't get mine to recognise the vast card. In the SC slot it continously displays "Please Wait", and in either CI Slot it displays insert card.

I've left it for about 20min and still the same. Trying different plugins & firmware fails to recognise the card.

you can leave it in there for months and it wont work.
if it is a green vast card (v6.0) then no hope.
if it is a white kappa card (v5.7) then maybe, but I have had no luck as yet

leroy was saying that when the suppliers get back from xmas leave at the end of jan. then they may have a plugin down the track.

we will just have to wait and see

Once the card is married to the box there is no hope in using another.

To compound the problem further the cam key algorithm is also completely different which means no softcam or non-certified stb will work

UltraPower have assured me his card is working in one of their receivers. But of course I've had many guys saying they can't get their cards going. I did ask him again and have no reason to doubt him. Maybe it's something to do with 5.7 cards and 6.0 cards?? dunno
