Default VAST and third party recievers

What third party receiver are working with VAST Irdeto Kappa cards? You would of seen my comments in the other threads that UltraPlus receivers running the MCAS plugin are working. Also Octagon SF-1008/1018 will and so the new Mediastar 1200S should also. Are there any others out there?

VAST is not all HD and scanning isn't the only issue, it's going to be the viewing as well.
however their are a lot of SD channels on there. There are only 11 or 12 HD channels out of 56 tv channels

To Scan in the Vast Channels,

You will need a Receiver that will decode DVBS2 & H264,

Most of the New HD Receivers are capable, Like, Mediastar HD, DM800, etc...

(they will also usually decode, MPEG-2 & MPEG-4 too)

Even if you could get a SD STB to scan in the channels, I would pay the extra to be able to get the HD channels too,

& I would also want HDMI output, & a great upscaling picture,

(To work with your Vast Card is another Question, I have only heard of the Receivers, in Post 1 (of this thread). that will work, besides the provider STB, so far)

By the Way, ABC3 SE has been broadcasting FTA on Vast for a while now,

I thought that the VAST system was similar to Austar, so does that mean that these boxes will work for austar 5.7 cards with the new plug in

It is. The Austar cards from the Mystar don't work and they aparently are ver. 5.7 cards. But I don't have one to test!

I might make this a sticky leroy as I am sure many people will want to use Vast in something other than the supplied crappy UEC.

VAST receiver and card are married together.

There will only be 3 manufactures one being UEC and another will be ADB (Hills) the third I can not tell as it still being negotiated as we speak.

Let us know when they release the third supplier.
I think it's a joke that they don't just sell cards and let people use their own equipment. I mean for FFS UEC releasing a HD sat receiver with crippled ethernet and USB ports is ridiculous as a lot of people already have receivers that are more capable and they can't use them!

    G'Day Cobber,
After tonight's problems on D3 ABC, Methinks you are absolutely correct and that those that think otherwise are going to be left with some very expensive bricks.

Like we need more of this monopolistic gouging equipment control. Like Bigpond forced to use the Netcomm Sierra Wireless yankee crap when on 3G. I will *NEVER EVER* succumb to buying another UEC device. Hopefully we will see Strong receivers and 240V/12V. There are a lot of users in remote areas on 12V other than travellers.

    Default VAST Box

Hello to you all, I am new to this forum and wish to seek some advice from you experienced and informed chaps.
My question is, can any one of you help me to acquire a VAST decoder 12/240v that receives the commercial channels without a smart card. My biggest problem is that I live in NZ and I think my isolation would hinder my registration for applying for VAST. I have researched and found that the appropriate Satellites do cast a shadow over this side of the ditch.
We also plan to tour Australia in caravan but because we don't have a current Australian address we may find it difficult to register with VAST.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
