heard a rumour that strong will have some thing after xmas, but not sure for which box
What third party receiver are working with VAST Irdeto Kappa cards? You would of seen my comments in the other threads that UltraPlus receivers running the MCAS plugin are working. Also Octagon SF-1008/1018 will and so the new Mediastar 1200S should also. Are there any others out there?

sorry d/posted
I thought that the VAST system was similar to Austar, so does that mean that these boxes will work for austar 5.7 cards with the new plug in
I might make this a sticky leroy as I am sure many people will want to use Vast in something other than the supplied crappy UEC.

So what can we confirm as working ? From another post of yours Leroy the UltraPlus 980HD PVR with MCAS plugin works ?
VAST receiver and card are married together.
There will only be 3 manufactures one being UEC and another will be ADB (Hills) the third I can not tell as it still being negotiated as we speak.
Excuse my ignorance and limited knowledge on this but even if you can get a 'VAST' card to work on a 3rd party STB, unless you can just buy the card by itself its a rather expensive option as you end up with a next to useless UEC stb that has cost you $300 to be a doorstop.
Financialy I just dont see the viability of going down this path.
I stand unequivicably behind everything I say , I just dont ever remember saying it !!
Just what's listed in the 1st post so far.
Let us know when they release the third supplier.
I think it's a joke that they don't just sell cards and let people use their own equipment. I mean for FFS UEC releasing a HD sat receiver with crippled ethernet and USB ports is ridiculous as a lot of people already have receivers that are more capable and they can't use them!

lets just say the third manufacture will address some of those issues ie PVR and possible media streaming

Competition can only be a good thing in this instance.

Like we need more of this monopolistic gouging equipment control. Like Bigpond forced to use the Netcomm Sierra Wireless yankee crap when on 3G. I will *NEVER EVER* succumb to buying another UEC device. Hopefully we will see Strong receivers and 240V/12V. There are a lot of users in remote areas on 12V other than travellers.

To Scan in the Vast Channels,
You will need a Receiver that will decode DVBS2 & H264,
Most of the New HD Receivers are capable, Like, Mediastar HD, DM800, etc...
(they will also usually decode, MPEG-2 & MPEG-4 too)
Even if you could get a SD STB to scan in the channels, I would pay the extra to be able to get the HD channels too,
& I would also want HDMI output, & a great upscaling picture,
(To work with your Vast Card is another Question, I have only heard of the Receivers, in Post 1 (of this thread). that will work, besides the provider STB, so far)
By the Way, ABC3 SE has been broadcasting FTA on Vast for a while now,

Each channel has a HD component the same as the Terrestial so anything that wont receive HD is a bit of a waste, same as buying a SD Terrestial STB is now.
What they have on HD is a joke but maybe one day !!!!!!
