Default Primo - Too many guidance instructions

I am using Primo and for the most part, find it very good.

However, one annoying feature is the number of guidance instructions given, especially when it mutes the radio every time.

For an upcoming Left Turn, you get a "Prepare to turn left in 800m", then "Prepare to turn left in 300m" and finally "Turn Left in 100m".

I can do without all the "Prepare to" instructions. Just tell me "Turn Left in 100m".

I also don't need the "Drive 5.6km" when you turn onto a road and are going straight for some distance before the next turn.

Is there anyway to turn off these instructions via SYS.TXT ?

Also, is there a way to turn off U-Turns in route re-calculations ?

Whenever you deviate from the route, Primo seems desperate to get you back on the original route at all costs, rather than re-calculating a new route based on the roads you are now on.

Using the ideas from this thread

I have massively reduced the number of guidance instructions which has made using iGO Primo even better.

Basically, you just edit commands.csv within the voice zip-file.

Now to start tweaking some of the words used in the commands.

    Hi Zelig,

I have a look at the Aus voice file and understand what you meant by "prepare to" and "drive" instructions.

I am using Nuance TTS and the command.csv seems much shorter and does not contain "prepare to" and "drive" etc. Do you know which commands to amend for the TTS Nuance's command.csv? Thanks.

Would it be possible to provide a copy of the command.csv to assist?

That should be fun when your barrelling down a freeway at 100Km/H

i think its a great idea actually. by the time the voice is finished talking you have travelled another 50m anyway and this gives you enough time to get into the correct lane and signal early as required.

i only got lost once , last month in Perth , i was on a city freeway heading south and primo told me to "keep left after 300m" when it should have said "take the next exit" . its done similar things before but if i was looking at the screen instead of listening to it i would have been ok.

another time , same city , it said to "prepare to enter roundabaout after 300m" but there was no roundabout , it was a straight road.

just minor glitches , nothings perfect.

Thanks. What threw me was that when I changed the command.csv, igoprimo refused to load, and I thought that I had edited the command.csv wrongly. I worked out that in order to change the file on my particular machine, I needed to delete the save files and reload the voice file (and everything else from scratch). Then it appeared to accept the modified voice file without crashing. I will have to try 2morrow and see whether the mods worked
