Press the TV button on your remote control - this will allow you to select the bouquet to your state (e.g. Victoria, NSW, etc) - you will then find the channels for your state showing up first with numbers starting from 1 (ONE) 2 (ABC) 3 (SBS), etc. Other states will then appear further on with 3 digit numbers.

Good to see the electronic program guide is now working. I am now waiting for Dec 15 to get the commercial channels authorised.

Just had a look at the bouquets and noticed how many channels each state have.

Optus monitering has the full list at 56ch
Vic country has 51ch .The other southern states
    SA.Tas,Nsw north+south have around 50 ch.
    Nt,Qld have 47ch.
    Next is Wa with 43ch.
And the last bouquet just has the abc & sbs .

Looks like fokes... vic country is the winner and has the most channels,
as its very unlikly we will be able to view the full oparse monitering bouquet .

The upscaled SD abc looks far better on UEC Vast than the SD aurora via a older UEC or Strong Stb.

Roll on the 15th of Deeecember.

I can use the UEC DSD 4121 Decoder output - AV or Composite - to the Panasonic XW 300 then via HDMI to the Plasma HDMI - works okay.

However, the resulting picture does not appear to be quite as good using the AV output via the Panasonic XW 300 when compared to using the HDMI output direct from the UEC decoder to the HDMI Plasma TV input.

The Panasonic XW 300 has a wide range of inputs (3 av, 2 compsite, 2 S video but no HDMI. Outputs (3 av, 2 compsite, 2 S video, 1 HDMI) The Panasonic HDMI output certainly gives the best result. The Panasonic composite output gives totally different colours compared to AV or HDMI, so I don't use it.

The above results concerning the AV inpuit/output also apples to my Austar Mystar. (However, to record from the Mystar I have to go via a Digital Video Stabilizer - I purchased a GREX from - it strips the copy protection from the Mystar signal. The GREX can be used with S video, AV or composite but has no HDMI connections - further info on the GREX can be obtained from the xdimax website - I have used one for over 12 months and had no problems with it.) -

I did NOT need to use the GREX with the UEC decoder.

This is a major disadvantage of the UEC POS...... no USB/PVR facility to record off air programs in digital quality.

There are numerous satellite decoders with this capability, so it's very unfair to VAST viewers to need to resort to having to use a separate recorder with 'vastly-inferior' picture quality.

I guess the UEC box is consistent though... 'vastly inferior'.

Even with the crap encoding of Aurora... you could still use your choice of sat decoder with PVR function.

    Roll on competition for UEC!

I was looking at a vast uec box today that had the abc and sbs channels activated.

I noted that the bouquet list has now disappered when pressing the tv button.

I noted the new information slide...channel 800 or something.

The bouquets are back when you press the TV button. I noticed today the box is going through a regular signal search for a bouquet and channel update

The bouquet list has been changed to put abc/sbs bouquet first - I presume as the default.

I wonder if there will be a bouquet list for my box after I register for the VAST service tomorrow.

No pressing of the button would bring back the bouquet list.
abc and sbs was only selection now available
It comes up on the slide channel 1st, even after rebooting it on the front panel
I would assume that this is in preparation for the switch on of the commercials for your designated area via the card/receiver paired.
I'll look at the box again tomorrow, see if anything changed.
I wonder if they will allow you to activate tomorrow, as they say "after 15th" ??

The email I received this week from my UEC DSD 4121 supplier said I can apply on the 15th. I already have an authorised Aurora service, hopefully registering for VAST should not be a problem. I will let you know how I go tomorrow.

I dare say they will be inundated with activation requests tomorrow, so don't be surprised if activation doesn't occur by this weekend.

But, you can only hope. Good luck to you and all others.

On a footnote: The 15th Dec is a big day for OZ TV history. VAST is activated for certain areas; Network 10 start their 3rd channel call Eleven; and Regional SA Analogue is turned off.

Is your Mystar HD, I found that with the standard Mystar box my Dick Smith kit worked on stripping the signal but did not work on the HD version.

The Mystar I have is HD - I tested the GREX - - on SD and HD Mystar boxes - works fine for me. Mine cost me $98.85 USD including postage.

If you did not know what the 3 dig ch numbers mean for the ABCs & SBSs.
This what i think it is.
The 1st diget is the broadcaster ,
2 for abc ,3 for sbs.
The 2nd diget is the state post code.
& the 3rd is the digital ch number.

    234=abc24hd vic. 320=SBShd nsw.
    282=abc2 NT. 341=SBS1 Qld

The channel doesn't begin until 11/01/11

They are doing some terrestrial testing, starting this week.
