    Question Humax PR-HD1000 and Season Interface

    Hi,

    First of all I apologize for my weak english.

    I bought a Humax PR-HD1000 receiver. I built a Season Interface. I would like to make a connection between my laptop (IBM T20, Win XP) and a receiver. I use Fausto 1.44, but it does not communicate with the Humax. It waits for the ATR (Answer To Reset) signal but it does not comes. Here are some pictures about my Humax and the Season.

    This is the schematic diagram for my S.Interface.

    This is how I connected the S.Interface to Humax's SmartCard reader.

    Group PIN1..9
    Pin2 +5V
    Pin9 GND

    Group PIN1..4 5 6
    Pin2 Reset

    Group begins with Pin7 on the left
    Pin6 Data (I/O)

    Is the S.Interface correct?
    Are the cable connections between S.Interface and Humax correct?
    What can be the problem?

    Thanks in advance!

    Regards,
    Leon727

    I added a season to my Humax 5410 whose card reader looks very similar. These are the connections. You might want to confirm yours are correct.

    I'll look for my season cct diagrams etc.

    This is the season cct diagram I built

    Connections to the DB9 look the same as yours. Maybe try using a Max232 chip?

    I built a Season Interface like yours. As I am a newbie at making "PCBs", I have questions.

    DB9 Pin5 and MAX232 Pin15, Pin6 are GND?
    MAX232, right side, middle (second) capacitor Pin6 (positive) and Pin3 (negative) ?

    If the answers are yes then something is not OK because there is no communication between PC and receiver.
    If no then I have to correct the "HW".

    Season IF, like yours.

    My receiver has an original firmware v1.00.39 and a Loader v2.03, not patched and as I read on the internet, it can't be patched.
    Is it possible that this kind of Season Interface works only on patched receivers?

    Did you use Fausto version x.yz for your Humax? If not, which SW?
    What are the settings for COM1? Baud rate, ATR baud rate, Parity, Stop bit, Delay, etc.?

    Many thanks,
    Leon727

    Yes all those 3 lines go down to ground

    middle (second) capacitor Pin1 (positive) and Pin3 (negative) - fix this and it may work!

    This season interface should work in most receivers and worked in my Humax 5410 patched and unpatched receivers.

    I don't use Fausto but I used to use this on a program called greywolf and used the serial settings of 9600, 1 stop, no parity.

    I am a little bit confused. I explain what I can "read" from the PCB-picture.

    MAX232 left side:
    Pin14 -> Pin1 DB9
    Pin7 -> Pin2 DB9
    Pin8 -> Pin3 DB9
    Pin15 -> GND
    Pin6 -> cap+ and cap- -> GND

    MAX232 right side:
    Pin16 VCC
    Pin2 -> cap+ and cap- -> VCC
    Pin1 -> cap+ (I read it as Pin6.)
    Pin3 -> cap-
    Pin1 -> cap+
    Pin5 -> cap-
    Pin11 -> RST
    Pin10 -> DATA
    Pin9 -> 390 Ohm -> DATA

    DB9 Pin4-6-8 connect eachother.

    On the right side, "Smart Card Socket": is there a real wire? I hope, no.

    Correct?

    Thanks,
    Leon727

    It's not a very clear picture!

    MAX232 right side:
    Pin16 VCC
    Pin2 -> cap+ and cap- -> VCC
    Pin1 -> cap+ (I read it as Pin6.)
    Pin3 -> cap-
    Pin4 -> cap+
    Pin5 -> cap-
    Pin11 -> RST
    Pin10 -> DATA
    Pin9 -> 390 Ohm -> DATA

    DB9 pins 4,6,8 are together

    that isn't a wire up the top (smart card socket)

    Cheers,
    Leroy

    I made the changes to my Season Interface as you suggested but I can not communicate with the receiver.

    I downloaded Greywolf Midnight 0.71b but I do not know anything about this SW and it does not have any help or description how to use it. I read the topic that belongs to this SW here at Austech. There was an Idiot's Guide for it but the link does not work. Do you have by any chance a copy of it? If not could you please explain how this program works?

    Thanks,
    Leon727
