A local possible installer claimed that UEC has changed the 60 day access to ABC/SBS without registration has now been reduced to a few hours only.
Anyone heard about this ?
I stand unequivicably behind everything I say , I just dont ever remember saying it !!

MTV, he is a bit of a 'ScatterBrain' and at times I think he is worse than me with his indesiviness.
He quite was convinced last week that if he applied for activation on the Tuesday, they would not refuse it even though I said the website stated point blank they would not and of course they didnt did they??
I havent heard from him for 3 days so I dont know if he has got the 5 he claimed he has authorised yet or not.

I got my UEC up a running last week. Still waiting for registration to come through and I still have access to ABC & SBS.
It occurs to me that an installer who supplies the UEC may have played with it for 60 days before putting it into your place... this would then result in you not having any interim coverage apart from the info channel and ABC3 SE!
cheers
The 30/60 activation is interesting. As boxes can sit there for months before being purchased, the limitation must be done over the air. As the cards would be used at some future point in 3rd party boxes I cant see the limitation being in the card.
When I first turned the box on I got a firmware update, I suspect if the box isn't "activated" for the other commercial stations then this firmware update will start the countdown.
Only an "observation" and seriously the access being reduced to a few hours would have to be total rubbish :-)

The way it works ATM is that the UEC boxes/cards are activated for ABC/SBS until 31 Jan, 2011.
Usage beyond that date requires registration of the decocder & smartcard.
This means they are expecting a high turnover of the boxes....bit of a risky move I think...
