Yep let's keep the major regional center happy. Bunbury has had more money thrown at it because of it's marginal political status both state and federally than any other regional center in WA. It won't be long before it's an outer suburb of Perth. VAST in March, well lets wait and see, first it was January skipped February and now March.

Got no choice but to wait and see
I'm doing daily scans for new digital ch's and will post if any new ones come up
Only one response from my emails about roll out timing
" I’ve referred your email to Senator Chris Evans as he is focussed on your area so best suited to assist you with your query."
Better that than nothing I guess

Cheers cpd. I have looped my VAST box through the 4010Z. I note 10 has been renamed West Digital and the only other commercials are WIN and GWN, no sign of Mate, One, etc. I have only received a read reply from Glenn Sterle and that is it from the Pollies for me. I know Glenn Sterle from his union days so if it means banging on his door, I will, when I'm in the city.

It's been named West Digital since it launched last year. Someone needs to rename the channels/networks on that TP.

    GWN // Prime TV
WIN WA 16:9 // WIN TV
    West Digital // WIN Television

    Should be:

    GWN7 // Prime Media
    WIN // WIN Television
    Ten // West Digital

I received a reply from Mark Bishops office this afternoon that was pretty predictable.

    Dear XX XXXXXX,

Thank you for your recent email regarding regional West Australian access to the VAST system.

As this subject matter falls within the portfolio of Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy, I have forwarded your correspondence to the relevant minister, Senator Stephen Conroy for his direct response.

    Kind regards

    Georgia

    Electorate Officer

    Senator Mark Bishop

    Ph: (08) 9472 6177

You have got to love Electorate Officers. I will wait for Conroy's response which I fear will be just as predictable.

    From
"It is expected that the VAST service will be available to viewers in Western Australia from early 2011."
Just depends on your definition of 'early'.

I picked the govt senators to write to because they do not have any specific electorate, they are elected to represent the state in the house of review. They had a two year holiday while Howard held the majority in the senate and did sweet fa during that time. It's now time to get their collective arses into gear and get a fix for the the people they represent.

geez you are looking for a miracle there. They promise everything before hand and when they get in they do even less.

Thought I would keep the ball rolling so decided to give the 1800 # a call at Digital Ready, in that they have "WA Regional and Remote Available Early 2011" on their web site. My question was "you have early 2011 for VAST services to Regional and Remote WA. Could you please advise if this is still the case and if so could you please give me a more definitive date? Well, this poor girl really didn't have a clue. After saying it wouldn't happen until the first half of 2013 and when asked why, when all the regional and remote areas east of the WA border had VAST she hit the bail out button and said send VAST and email they might be able to help you.

I would suggest everyone who is wanting VAST in WA keep calling these plonkers so they get the message.

    So much wastage on VAST.

Why does every state need its own ABC24? Sheer idiocy.

And why is WIN WA, GWN etc all up there when no-one can legally watch them for at least 2 years?

The problem is MySwitch can't decide if they represent Terrestrial or Satellite. The girls I spoke to was confused and acknowledged she was referring to terrrestrial, that's when she told me call MySattv.

    Very good questions.

Wish we knew the answers, then at least someone would know.
