Newbie Wiikey Q's

Hi all...

Did my first wiikey on the weekend...

It updated fine - no probs (1.9s)...

I tried a couple of games on it - patched mario kart (and unpatched) , and Metroid 3... (all Pal)...

Now these 2 tittles didnt work on the Wiikey - but worked fine on my old wiininja

No my mate tried to reburn the 2 with diff media - diff speeds etc - to no avail..

any ideas / explanations as to what would cause this?

Is there something i should change using the config disc (i havnt used the config disc yet - all i did was updated to 1.9s)

What version is your Wii system firmware at....???

Should be 3.2E

but he did say it hasnt been updated for a couple of months... (sorry - i assumed he had b4 i posted)....

Wiiiiii! I keep a handy version of 3.2E at all times - im still paranoid the newer firmware versions will lock up the console with a chip in it...

I think Mario Kart wont work unless you do the update to 3.2e and with wiikey 1.9s config set to stop the disc update, it might struggle.

I just ran Mario Kart(pal) unpatched on a Wiikey V1.9g running f/w V3.1E without any probs!

Cool, thanks for the heads up mate, I thought you needed 3.2e....must be another game I am thinking of....maybe ssbb for dual layer...maybe...???

i have had mario cart running on 3.1 system firmware and chip with yaosm 1.9 on it , they are up to 3 or something with the yaosm

do I need a GC controller to select the options on the yaosm configuration disc?

The options are visable on the screen but I can't select anything.
The Wii remote just switches off(blue LEDs blink and go out) when I have opened the config disc and press A button.

When you say you keep a backup of the firmware 3.2E incase future updates stuff up the wii's that have chips, how do you get the update off the wii and onto media (DVD) i presume?
