Hi I am new to Austech forums and have a problem with my computer... I dont know lots of technical things of computers so i dont know whats wrong..

That looks alot like corrupt video memory. It could be kicking in during a game when it tries to read/write to a part of memory which is corrupt but not usually used by windows.

It could also be a driver issue though, It may not be switching from 3d Rendering back to 2d rendering correctly.

Well let us eliminate the easiest first. Download the latest ATI catalyst drivers for your video card and install. See if it helps. If no change then try putting another video card in and see if the problem persists. If it persists, then the issue is a little more sinister. If it goes away then chances are you have a defective X1950

Also, does this occur as soon as you try to run the game. ie. You double click icon, screen flashes black then comes back to the desktop all garbled?

This could also be a heat issue but that depends on the previous question.

    hope that was helpful.

Yes, It seems that after 5 minutes of play, the card hs heated up ALOT more than it should have.

Check the airflow around the card and that the fan on the card is spinning properly.

    where are you located mate?
i would poke a guess at the card not being seated correctly in the slot.

i was brought a computer with a similar condition

failing that it could be the other things mentioned above

There are a number of things you can do. Make sure you test after each.

    1. Check to make sure card is inserted correctly
    2. Make sure heatsink is secured
    3. Run a Burn in test on the 3d/2d graphics to check memory
    4. Uninstall the driver with a program like Driver Cleaner Pro then install just the basic driver no ATI Catalyst
    5. Take card back to where u bought it and demand satisfaction

Edit: I forgot i had to re-reg, 1 Post i look like such a newbie

that looks like defective pixel pipelines - at least that's how my 6800LE looks if i activate the last 4 pipes using riva tuner; extra 4 are perfect, but the other 4 make the screen look very much like that

presumably heat may make the gpu stress out - but i'd be after a refund if it was new and not abused

no spare bits shorting out the mobo somewhere? usually that appears from boot up though
