Hi i have exactly the same problem.

I was watching couple movies the other day with the analog rgb cable to my old laptop and found out only today the tv is brain dead, searched around the web and this one matched up perfectly.

Where can i get such files and software to flash the tv?
I know its a old tv and files are probably really hard to come by now..
Please anyone has them, send me links for download or email me the files to newbiezz@hotmail.com for tv model 42lc7d-ab.aauvlh.

    Many thanks.

Hi all, it appears I'm experiencing the same problem after eliminating all other possible problems. Is the firmware for 42LC7D-AB.AAUVLH and software needed still available? I would really appreciate help with with a download link to the file. Really missing having my tele running. Thanks in advance

I'm inclined to believe it's a hardware issue.

Without being able to see a working screen, you won't be able to follow a menu to install firmware.

When it died were you using the RGB mode i.e. laptop connected, if so it will need a firmware update.

Please Note: Factory has released software to correct issue below:
When operating in RGB mode possibilty arises that Eeprom data corrupted and will cause
    Lockup latch problem with IC101..
This will then cause No VIDEO and AUDIO on ALL inputs with Minor Remote operation and render LCDTV inoperable..
No OSD or servcie Mode operation:
    ONLY BACKLIGHT operational.

Not a clue it's possible I was given the TV U/S and only plugged it in yesterday expecting to seethe usual black screen of a power supply fault but was suprised to see the back-light running happy as but no picture and so the game begins. however from what I've read here I figure starting with the EPROM is a good place to start unfortunately I have no experience with the software side of these things plenty with the components and hardware. so i guess this feeds another question (which once again probably the wrong forum) how does the rs232 programming system work (software required etc.) and where do I get the files?

Care to share your fault finding process/train/tree as to how you came to your conclusion?

LG's are known to have board failures, which I suspected.

As you will see, mickstv has also indicated a firmware issue may also be the culprit.

All good that was what I thought initially too but upon inspection it all seemed as it should thought you may have been thinking along a different line I hadn't approached

I also have a set (LG 42lc7d-ab.aauvljd) which suffers from similar symptoms (takes ages to start the display, initially with some flashes and popping sounds. Eventually 'settles down' but this can take 20 minutes or so).
Please provide link or pm the software version that might help with this issue.

    Cheers

    Default Lg 42lc7d-uk

I have a problem with this TV whereby the screen keeps all the images so it is like image overlaid on image continuously. Any advice that will point me in the right direction as to what to check? Thanks in advance.

Default 42LC7D with no video or audio

Hi, I have a LG 42LC7D-AB.AAUVLJD exhibiting the symptoms seen by many on this thread. I have replaced the faulty caps in the power supply and all voltages are now within spec. The unit will switch on and off via the remote, however no screen displays are visible.

Is the firmware to upgrade the EEPROMs still available, and what software is required to load it? How can I obtain the software?

I'm quite familiar with RS232 and null modem cables.

    Thanks.
