    Default Finding OPTUS B3

At the moment I am picking up OPTUS C1.
I tried moving my dish slightly up and some degrees to the left, but I can't get OPTUS B3
Maybe my LNB ain't got enough power or something.

I tuned into my Menu a channel called TRT and played with my dish but still no signal.

Could someone please tell me if I'm doing it right, or could you give me the settings for a channel Frequency, s/r frequency and maybe a vpid and spid numbers that are free to air and should pick up from Melbourne.

Hi TRT Int. is in the Optus B3 Sat.List of channels at 12658 Vertical Polarity 30000,2/3. as are several other channels on the same Freq. group. What reciever are you using? an what are your Signal strenght% ,Quality % in your menu when your searching?scanning on this sat?Strong for each or One only like strenght ,not much quality? If So you may well already be on the correct sat.B3 but the Lnb feed on front of dish may need a slight twist . from the original position as per optus c1` to 1/4 twist left or right in the holder to bring in the B3 strenght for Quality an Pictures? Some brands of lnb are different as to either a left twist or a right twist in my experience, try both , in small increments,an mark your original position in fine texta on holder to return to if not satisfactory an try again, more or less or oposite till an improvement happens.Let us Know as there will surely be other contributers offer other usefull tips till you get pics? Cheers!

    I'm using a Technosat IR7000.
The strength on OPTUS C1 is around 65% and quality was 85%.
The bar graph on the screen is in green.
When I move it to where I think the B3 is, the signal strength goes to 57% in Red Colour and the quality drops to 2% in Red colour.
    I have a dish about 90 centimetres I think.
I have a dish in the backyard at around 1.2 centimetres, but I don't wish to use it just yet until I get more experience at aiming , because i don't what to lose what I have already got, not that it is very much.
And that is Al Jazeera in English.
And to find Al Jazeera, I had to put in the Vpid and the Npid or it wouldn't find it.

rickove....what does it mean when they say 3/4 or 2/3?
I don't seem to have a menu where to insert those fogures in my Box.

If you can't find where to put that in then you will never get it work properly.

It should be there, its the FEC parameter. (forward error correction?)

The weaker signal is completely consistent with B3/D2 optus C1 is much more powerful.

    Hi Moeee!
Optus C1 is located at 156 Deg, East.
Optus B3 Is located at 156.5 Deg. East. and it is mooving 0.5% deg. every day. So you only have to moove your dish slightly up and to the right. Pehaps only 2 to 3 mm.
Now what ever polorization you are watching NOW on Optus C1 and you are looking for signal from Optus B3 ,,,,,,If it is the oposite polorization than you have to turn your LNB one Quarter of a turn to eiter side left or rigth. If it is the same polorization than dont turn the LNB at all.Keep in mind VERY SMALL
MOOVEMENTS OF THE DISH and wait a few seconds between movements.Good Luck!!

Are you sure about the position of OPTUS B3?
The charts say it is at 152 degrees.
If you are right, then that would explain why I can't find it.
Sounds like it is going to be space junk soon.

You are looking for Optus D2 NOT B3. D2 has just taken over the B3 services. 152 degrees is correct.

The old satellite (B3) is moving to a new orbit but it has no signal on it for now.

i was having the opposite problem last week i was picking up b3 when trying to get c1. they are just about on top of each other, so to speak, all i did in the end was when i had a lock on b3, i turned the decoder off and then back on, when it kicked in it found c1 first, so for you, when you have a lock on c1, maybe move your dish a little up and right, only a couple of mm's as suggested above, maybe your sig strenght will drop a little, thats ok, then do what i did and it may find b3 first. good luck.

    Thanks guys.
So I want to view the channels that were on B3.
I guess I still need to find the same location as before , but the satellite is now D2 but contains the same information as what B3 had.And is where B3 was.
    I try again soon.
Anybody know if anEx Foxtel box called a 660 can be adapted to view free to air channels?
I don't have the remote control so I can't get into the Menu for attemting to modify it.
Not even an extarbs abs9786 Box.
I have remote for this unit, but it continually wants me to insert smart card.
Also have an exAustar Box without a remote control.
Shame got all these crap . Don't really want to spend money on new Box.
My goal is to eventually use one of these boxes and then subscroibe to SelectTv.
