Good on ya mate. I had one that was doing as you described. Your solution fixed the problem.

I didn't bother soldering the wire. I inserted the smartreader into a usb port and touched both ends of the wire onto the spots you describe. When I heard the sound of a usb device connecting (which was immediate) I discarded the wire and reassembled the smartreader. Working like new now, so cheers.

I got x2 bricked smargos and tried the above method and it did not work for me.I used them for 3 years with no probs at all ,and recently i updated them with "SmartreaderUpdate_v1.4" ......they worked since i put the gamma cards in them to work in oscam. Anyway if somebody needs them to try to fix em will gladly post .
