    Default dbv-s cards. Decoding time.

does the decoding of the picture using a pc and dvb-s card take longer? eg if you have a look at live sports eg cricket, on a standard decoder will it be ahead of the pc?

Computers will always take a little longer to decode the signal because they are not designed specifically for this job whereas satellite decoders are.

Also most DVB-S/S2 pci cards are software decoding which also slows the time taken for the signal to decode and display a picture.

Thanks for that. I was under the misconception that as processors on pc's are faster the decoding would be faster. Sounds like something like a Octagon 918 with its 1GHz processor is what i should be looking at.
