    Default Irdeto Softcell 3.x CAMs

Those who wish to use their current DVB-S2 compliant STBs with CI slot for installing CAMs this company produces Softcell 3.6 and 3.9 which according to the minimum specification for VAST should work.

You will need to ring VAST and have them send a reset to your card so that it can be re-married

It is unlikely VAST will reset cards, as the specs suggest they would prefer not. Unfortunately.
A lot of UEC owners would love to divorce the box & get a decent one with PVR.

So presumably for a new subscriber yet to be authorised - they could put their card in a third party box with this new cam (instead of the UEC box) then get it hit in the normal fashion?

That's correct. If you do it at the beginning then the marriage will occur against this CAS.

What's great about this approach is that you can simply take your CI CAM and install it in other STB and your all OK.

    Not sure this will work.
The documentation indicates the card is married to the box before purchase.
So good luck getting them to reset it.

You may be forgeting that the boxes come preauthorised for ABC & SBS, with card in box, so card is already married

New out of the box, Vast UEC and card are married and preauthorized for ABC, SBS.

The 5.7 card when unmarried become 5.4 card and will work in Mediastar’s, Ultra’s
and a few other boxes. Don’t see the benefit in investing in a Neotion cam.

There’s buckley's hope of Vast sending unmarried commands, They wouldn’t know what you are talking about.

Interesting observation regarding Jetstar. when Mystar subscribers have downgraded to SD, Jetstar won’t send a new box instead over the air they disable the HD features and recording on the Mystar. A few how have done this noticed the card ver change to 5.4 and subsequently card worked in the MS box.

Use your own gear (if you technically can, for now) with VAST. Can't see many happy Australians being forced or coerced into using, what effectively is 'almost mandatory' single brand gear.

    It's anti-competition bullshit and won't last.

You should be able to tune into the FTA Al Jazeera, pretty sure VAST's crappy UEC won't?

Open market this service must become.

Has any one had any success divorcing the card and marrying to a 3rd party box or one of these neotion cams?

Why does everyone say these Uec boxes come with ABC and SBS when they dont. ??

the only free channels and the ones that work when plug in is 223 "abc3" and 800 the info channel.

Originally all cards were supplied activated for ABC and SBS - however, that only applied to the initial stock of VAST decoders as was explained in the early posts here on the subject, the cards were only valid until approx the end of 2010 if they were not registered (see below).

Decoders now available for purchase only have access to any unencrypted channels on VAST.

Anyone wanting just the ABC and SBS can have their cards activated or re-activated by going to
