Default Drop cable - Street to House Question

Are the cables used by foxtel for the run from the pit on the street to the house anything special? They look thicker than standard quad shield and the ends look different.

    Any info appreciated

Underground cables are a 'flooded' type with a gel inside to resist ingress of moisture and can be a little thicker than un-flooded RG6 quadshield.

Sometimes RG11 can be used, which is around 10mm diameter.

From where can I obtain such cable? I would like to run another drop cable from the pit.

I am sure if you approach a Foxtel/Bigpond Contractor working around the area they would sell you some. It is their stock as they are contractors.
Be prepared to have a good reason why you want it. They will not condone you tampering with the network.

If you require a large run, try any Antennae supply outlet. eg Hills or Electrocraft.
You can even try your Electrical Wholesaler.
