Is your first "here" different to your latter "here" ? Your first "here" indicates that your "here" is your present location which, at a guess, (due to your mention of NAGRA) is not the same "here" as my location which is also "here", but a separate "here" remote from your "here"....I am guessing your "here" is actually there in the United States. This here "here" is the primitive country of Australia, and most satellite TV here is encrypted with the IRDETO flavour which is an extremely tough nut to crack. Some exploit of this encryption is apparent and cards are for sale, but no details of how this compromise of encryption is achieved... the people making the dollars have kept their secret very well.

Essentially, this here "here" has nothing easily cracked, and it seems that your "here" over there has caught up and stopped most theft of TV.

So that's how things are in my version of "here", that is here in Australia which is quite remote from your "here" over there. I hope you find this posting sufficiently educational, it seems that encryption has made things tough in both of our "heres", that is, both this here "here" and your "here" there. .

update on irdeto 2
The Irdeto2 encryption has been hacked completely, EMU's are to be expected soon.
The Gamma OS has been dumped and Irdeto-2-Smartcards of versions 4 and 5 are hit.
The chances for IRDETO for a fix are not good, as the ROM is completely dumped.
IRDETO2 is used by Canal Digitaal Satelliet, Nova and a few XXX channels.

They're fools if that's all they're doing. There's a postulate called "Kerckhoffs' Principle" that states that in cryptography, you should never assume your algorithm is secret, only that the key is. Security should only ever be in the fact that no one else knows your key.
