    Default AFL Supercoach?

Will anyone here be taking part in the AFL supercoach?

If there are enough people maybe we could start an austech league?

Every year I um and arr and against my better judgment I opt to pay $20 bucks to the guy at work - thinking I will do better this year, my guys will do good

    and they don't

I cry for the coaches, cause I reckon I would go postal if I was one

and there I go again - why not

surely I wont be as bad this time

    surely

Sorry for being so late, but I almost wasn't going to do a team this year. Both of these leagues are public leagues so will get filled with random people if you don't jump in straight away.

    Dreamteam Austech league:

    Supercoach Austech league:

There a few in so far, I had added some of the "experts" or "celebs" too.

I am in both leagues it was easy enough just to enter the same players from dreamteam to supercoach. In reality supercoach point allocation per game differs to dreamteam and you can find a player who does well in one does only average in the other. But it hurts my brain too much to pick a different second team.

Joined the Super coach one. There should be more people on here that follow AFL and are keen on a super coach team. Still spots available in the austech league above. Couple of more hours to join.

The AFL site is down, but I guess you can expect that with a Telstra run site!

Having troubles picking your team? You can go little wrong using Dr. Dreamteam's squad as a basic startup. Then swap out some players who you may prefer and can keep under the salary cap. Even though this is for Dreamteam it will work with Supercoach too.

    Dr Dream Team's team
By Dr Dream Team 8:00 PM Wed 23 March, 2011
PICKING your Toyota AFL Dream Team isn’t easy at the best of times, but it’s been harder in 2011 than ever before.

We’ve had to consider substitutes and byes and multi-byes and injuries and cashcows and even Scott Pendlebury’s ridiculous hair.

But we’ve managed to get there. Here’s my line-up for round one*:

    BACKLINE

Brendon Goddard (DEF/MID, $471,000): One of the finest Dream Teamers going around and dependable in any situation. Superstar.

Bryce Gibbs (DEF/MID, $400,400): Another player everyone is likely to have in their side and with good reason. Big tick for Bryce.

Brett Deledio (DEF/MID, $371,300): I’m expecting Deledio to have a big year. He gets a lot of easy ball and rarely misses a game.

Jack Grimes (DEF, $340,200): Has had a dominant pre-season and if he stays fit will be a huge bargain this year. Invest.

Heath Shaw (DEF, $334,200): I’m really happy to have Shaw in my side. Adds depth to my defence and can pull a huge score.

Andy Otten (DEF, $142,400): Despite his coach’s words that Otten might be an ideal substitute, we’re sticking with him. Should score 50s.

Dyson Heppell (DEF/MID, $132,500): Has shown brilliant signs in the NAB Cup and should play a lot of senior footy in 2011.

Josh Toy (DEF, $97,600): Lucky he’s a pre-listed Suns player because he would have gone high in the draft otherwise. Will play.

Nick Lower (DEF, $92,500): Been a revelation this pre-season and also an elevation, being moved onto the senior list. Definitely in my squad.

Nick Duigan (DEF, $92,500): Mature footballer ready to play a part in Carlton’s defence. Has also scored well in NAB Challenge.

    MIDFIELDERS

Dane Swan (MID, $511,200): The best there is and can easily be considered Dream Team royalty. And we mean cool royalty like Will and Harry, not Charles.

Matthew Boyd (MID, $478,200): Has flown under the radar for years but is a huge points scorer and worth the pricetag.

Scott Pendlebury (MID, $442,300): In huge pre-season form and he’s only getting better. I’m hoping he can pull in at least 100.

Nick Dal Santo (MID, $427,700): My fourth premium. Is a proven DT performer over many years.

Ed Curnow (MID, $96,400): Has had a super pre-season after being drafted from the VFL. Good value and will rise in price.

Michael Hibberd (MID/DEF, $92,500): Impressed through the NAB Cup and is in line to make an impact early in the year.

David Swallow (MID, $160,500): You can’t leave Swallow out of your side and hopefully you’ll be able to get some scores above 70 out of him immediately.

Daniel Harris (MID, $114,400): At that price you can’t ignore a bloke who will play every game and rack up the tackles.

Isaac Smith (MID/FWD, $92,500): Starred in the VFL last year and, despite a somewhat underwhelming pre-season, is handy as a DPP.

    RUCKS

Aaron Sandilands (RUC, $406,500): It can’t really be anyone else, can it? You have to pick Sandilands, big pre-season or not.

Patrick Ryder (RUC, $356,100): A very suitable back-up who has matured and is ready for a big year. Should be at his best this season.

Joel Tippett (RUC/FWD, $114,400): Is only in the side because he can switch as a DPP with Drew Petrie when either of Sandilands or Ryder is missing.

Broc McCauley (RUC, $80,400): Only picked a fourth ruckman because I have to pick one. He won’t play so don’t waste any money on this spot.

    FORWARDS

Lance Franklin (FWD, $412,800): The competition’s purest superstar who racks up some huge points. Must buy.

Brad Green (FWD, $409,000): Averaged close to 100 last year and I see no reason why he can’t again. Loves a goal, too.

Adam Goodes (FWD, $393,200): A cheaper premium who is in scintillating pre-season form. Never injured and pretty reliable.

Nick Riewoldt (FWD, $391,900): Another cheaper premium forward who will hopefully get back to his best this year.

Andrew Krakouer (FWD/MID, $139,500): Stating the obvious, but you’d be crazy to pass up Krakouer at this price.

Cam Richardson (FWD, $97,600): Listed as a forward but will play mainly off half-back. Gets a lot of the ball and finds space.

Jack Darling (FWD, $92,500): Likely to get a good go given the Eagles’ inexperience and has shown he can play.

Drew Petrie (FWD/RUC, $209,700): You shouldn’t be put off by Petrie missing round one because he’ll be great for you during the year.

Dion Prestia (FWD/MID, $128,500): Looks a real player and should play most games at senior level. Has the body to win his own pill.

Brandon Matera (FWD, $97,600): The last of my Gold Coast representatives and a good one at that. Considered likely to play most senior games.

Looks like you can still join in, just can't have Carlton or Richmond players. I could be wrong though.

The Austech leagues still have positions open.

Just made some alterations to my rucks... instead of just 2 guns and 2 who probably will never play I now have 1 gun and 2 also rans, but then had to dilute my forward line, have I just wasted $ to have points scored on the bench most of the time. Maybe I'll reverse the decision and have a dual position player as cover. Decisions.

the league doesnt usually start for a few games so you still have time to enter a team
The power of accurate observation is commonly called cynicism by those who have not got it.
