guess there's not much knowledge of these units here.
Hello, I'm new here and i'm from the UK. I have a problem with my incar dvd satnav unit. I have a king cobra from chinavasion and everything was working fine then one day it couldn't find the GPS reciever. I set it to scan automatically to find it but it says could not find gps.I haven't got a clue about baud rate etc. I think it may be a problem with the IGO8 thats installed on the memory card and I have been trying to upgrade it to see if thats the problem. Now my other problem is what software to upgrade with. I have got primo and igo8 downloaded but don't know where to start with all the sys.txt files etc. I did make a new sd card with igo8 on it but it says resolution not supported as my unit is 800x480. Could anyone point me in the right direction or a direct download which I can copy directly to sd card which may work. thanks Davy

You posted a second time only an hour or so after your first post and seem to expect people to jump straight away. You need to have a little patience as the members here are often not online all the time. Alos you can't expect that there would be many people on a forum like this with intimate knowledge of your device (hint google is your friend). Anyway if iGO is working ok apart from the GPS issue I doubt that it is causing the problem. The first thing I would try is to delete the Save folder under the iGO folder and then try it again. You will have to set it up again but that should make sure there is nothing in the iGO setup that is causing the problem. Next thing would be to do a full reset of your unit or a reset of the GPS chip if there is that option. You need to have it working properly with your existing software before you try installing anything new. Also if nothing helps please post your sys.txt file contents for us to have a look at.
Cheers, Ian
Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic!
right. I have deleted the save folder and the software doesn't work at all now. it comes up with the error : program application database not found.
This is the sys.txt file which is in the igo8 folder. there is also a system file in the save folder. see second post.

Any help is appreciated. DAVY
right. I think it is the gps unit that is at fault now as I tryed the garmin satnav and it also cannot find the gps devise. So does anyone know where I can buy a gps reciever that has a female ps2 connection as chinavasion wont reply to any emails. Also would anyone know if I can use a different form of gps reciever as in a usb one.
Thanks Davy
I had a similar problem yesterday while fiddling with the unit in my wifes car. What I had done was to change the screen colour and for some reason the GPS didn't like it and jammed and came up "system Data base not Found". I turned the ignition off and when it restarted managed to get back in and change the colour back to what it was and it all works again.
Don't know if this will help, just a suggestion, Good luck.
Oh Dear this is not Good - I was rather hoping that this thread had a magic bullet at the end of it - no such luck....
I've had a Chinavasion Street King X1 in my Subie for about 8 weeks, its been fun to have.
Now the GPS is not working. Both IGo-8 and OziExp-CE can't locate the GPS - it has dissappeared off the system.
I've tried resetting and Fuse Pulling to cold boot the beast but no joy.
I've been in touch with Chinavasion they recommend I get it checked out locally before sending it back to China. I guess it could be something simple like a loose connector internally so its worth a Try, I guess this means that there is no problem of voiding warranty if the device gets opened outside of China (I think I had better double check that).
Has anyone else had problems with Chinese All-In-One machines?
[Just realised that I've posted twice in the same Forum - sorry. the other post is in the generic Chinese GPS thread. ]

i have had problems with chinese gps antennas, to solve the problem take the magnet antenna apart should be 4-5 screws under the sticker, inside the little antenna u will find the chip, on the chip you should have a battery change it and you should be good to go. good luck hope this helps
