z80 it is very interesting you bring up electric vehicle conventions but don't you think it would be nice to see one that looks like a sports car and you cant tell its an electric car and you more then likely have drive past it and didn't know. Maybe some thing like a nissan exa
There is a New Zealand manufacturer who developed a electric sports car that kept pace with the bmw and alike down the 1/4 mile but they can not get it registered over here in Australia.i saw it in that beyond 2000 show a while back and it was a sweet looking car as well.
z80 have a look here and tell me what you think
wright speed is fast but wont meet rego requirement like engineer certificate and blue slip and so on but it hammers
Nice work mate.
the batteries are an area of improvement me thinks...especially the weight,
50klms is a bit light for the range though.
I didn't post this one because of the price.
I was , seriously, going to buy this, but the wait........15 months
YES..... 220 miles per charge...nearly 350 kilometres....
yes there a nice car i remember there first run of cars they did.
using Lithium iro batteries make it heps lighter, go further and charge quicker.
just have to way up the cost lead acid $4500 in batteries, lithium iro $15,000 to $30,000
there is a car that tesla basicly copied the running gear called the Tzero it does 500miles
have a look at this months Silicon Chip magazine, interesting article on Ultra Capacitors (hundreds to thousands of Farads) and their application in Electric cars.
Basically used in combination with traditional batteries, but giving a whole raft of advantages (lightweight, long life, 100,000 plus cycles amongst a few), including re-charge times in the minutes range..
Obviously some downsides, hence the use in combination with batteries.
Expensive now, but as volume ramps up..
Comfortably numb...
And NO, Google is NOT my friend...
What about a street legal Datsun (US) pulling 11.466 quarter miles!!!
Heres the owner talking about whats under the hood!
What about a truly...SUPER capacitor?
Download that doco Who killed the electric car. Interesting viewing.
Leroy
Holy shit...look at this stuff..,.
or this:-
Im laughing with out looking at some of the links.
Its a well known fact the right electric motor can far out torque a petrol engine from a standing start. The torque is pretty linear too.
vautec, do you have some specs on your car setup, number of batteries, electric motor specs, build problems etc please?
What you have done is absolutly great!
120volt 225amp, 110km speed, range of around 30km to 50km it more then likely would go further but you have to take in to consideration hills and a tow truck or go flat near a power point.
batteries are std Lead acid?
