Default Invitation to participate in VAST field trial program

    Hi,

I would like to extend an invitation to satellite enthuiasts to participate in a field trial program with UEC on the VAST platform. The aim of this will be for a small group of selected viewers to trial our future software releases before they are deployed to the existing viewer base in order to gain feedback that we may use to improve the quality of our products.

People on the program will be provided with a free loan set top box with the ability to upgrade to pre release versions of software. These people will also be provided with access to a bug tracking website where they can log issues and features they would like to see in the products.

This field trial, if successfull will be extended to our PVR range due out soon.

If you are interested and feel you can provide honest unbiased input then we would like to hear from you. Please PM me with the following details:

    1. Name
    2. Post Code
    3. COntact email address
    4. Make and model of TV
    5. Satelite dish (dual, 11300, 10700)
    6. TV connection type (HDMI, composite etc)

    Thanks

    AD

Note, I understand that there will most likely be a lot of replies to this thread asking questions about our products, releases etc. Unfortunatly from previous experience we have found it not to be advisable to answer questions in a public forum and this post will have to remain the same.

Happy to participate in the trial providing VAST carry out the following:

    1) allow your cards to be used in third party recievers: or
    2) unlock the UEC decoder so that it can access other services.

I'm sure this will be the first of many such responses.

Hi, as per my PM reply:

I am however dubious about providing personal information to someone with only one post on the forum, but would happy to do so upon receiving direct contact information for yourself, including name, position, company address, phone number, etc.

I'm sure you'll understand the reasons for suitable identification for all concerned.

Naturally, I don't expect you to publish these details in the forum, so PM reply is satisfactory.

Very advisable ( nothing personal to the original poster )

Edit : His account here is verfied with a @uec.com.au email address, so I think its safe to assume he is legit.

I'd be ok with responding to an identified person with a @uec.com.au email address, if the OP will please provide same via PM.

It's actually pleasing to see UEC taking this approach which will hopefully benefit customers/viewers and the company.

I think it's great and also a good PR exercise for them so people see they are trying to address the issues.

I'm happy to put my hand up as I'm technically in a black spot area.

good to see some action but maybe they should have run the trials before releasing the box with bugs? that would have been a better pr exercise
    imho

I to agree it is a good idea to try and improve their product by way of this field trial with Enthusiasts

I would also like the chance to participate in the trial.

Respecting a forum members privacy, this member advised me several days ago he had been in contact with UEC and arrangements were being made for him to conduct just such a 'Field Test' on behalf of UEC.
I am rather wary of this particular posting requesting personal details via an unsecured PM rather that going to a company website to register an 'Expression of Interest'.
Another thought is why do you need another STB if this 'Update' is for all, why not just ZAP your STB which is already in place ??
If you already have an STB and have filled in the waranty card, those details are already on their records so a simple confirmation by the serial number on that STB should access all the necassary details.

I tend to agree. Usually trials are done prior to rollout but they might of been under the pump a bit to meet the rollout deadline.

How is a PM unsecured ? Your login details are encrypted in the database and not available to anyone but yourself.

So are you saying this 'AD' person isn't actually from UEC?

they not only want people from different regions but also with different tv's so the different outputs of the receiver are being used, HDMI, component and probably compost.

I also am happy to take part in such a trial, which would obviously be of benefit to UEC, VAST and to both potential and existing VAST users.

Like others, I have reservations about supplying personal details to someone, who at this stage, has not adequately established his/her own credentials.

If the OP can provide me with a genuine uec.com.au e-mail address by PM, and also a legal UEC company guarantee, that such personal details will not be divulged or provided to any other individual or company, I shall be happy to provide my own contact details as requested.

For other members' information, I have sent a copy of this post to UECTECH , by PM.
