    Default Meter misreading woes.

I received the bill today that was 'read' on the 14th of February and sure enough it reflects my belief it was underestimated on the last quarter by going from a $128 to $511.
By underreading by my estimation of around a 1000 units on the last bill, this in NSW with Integral means I went into a higher rate.
One rate is to 1700 units used, then it increases for units used above so guess where I ended up.
First of all, I HAVE used those units billed but not as they have been calculated.
I just didnt think quickly enough last quarter to realise the $128 amount was rather low because one of my sons moved out and we just werent using some appliances as before. But it reality it should have been closer to double that.
I dont object to paying for what I use but this inaccuracy plays hell on a limited income.
I have taken pics of the meter to record the readings as I did before in a posting called 'Meter Readings for Dummies so I can keep a visual record of the meter dial positions.

A family friend just got an $11,000 Dollar bill.
    Previous meter read 77429
    Current meter read 76980

    Should have been
    Previous meter read 76980
    Current meter read 77429

    Approx 449 Units.

A 60 year old lady living alone wrapping the meter in a quarter of a year....

Try telling them they stuffed up... impossible.

the best thing i did was switch to a time of use digital meter.

now when i check online it gives me the next date my meter will be read and before i go to
work in the morning i go out and read it and take a snap shot of each usage

eg : peak - off peak - shoulder

then when i get my bill i can calculate it if its right or wrong.

since switching to time of use i have cut my bill by about 55-60% because now all power used after a 10pm is off peak and also all weekend from 10pm Friday night to 7am Monday morning
dont say linux if i wanted it id install it
