Default Windows 7 SP1 out now

    Download from here:

Microsoft have released SP1 for win 7 today
You will have to go through their verification crap though and I think it contains the notorious KB971033 phone home anti piracy "update"

The attached screenshot looks like it is still optional to install

I have not downloaded it yet as I will wait until I have access to a genuine win 7 computer at work

This is a direct link for the DVD iso of SP1 that works with all versions of win7 (64 and 32 bit)...around 1.9 GB

I might "take one for the team" and see how Windows Loader shapes up with it

    Edit : Size 44-533 meg ! But it seems I only need 61 meg ( I keep uptodate )

I took a punt and it seems the Windows Loader holds up for now, happy days. That said i don't see any great improvements.

    Regards
    joezep

P.S it took a long time to do it through the windows update.

I did the same mate and got the same result as you...windows is still activated. And yes, what a friggin slow process ! It took about an hour and a quarter going off these posts timestamps I started immediately after post 3. The download was slow and the installation was just as bad.

I think you'll find Win 7 SP1 is a accumulate update containing previous updates, so if you've had autoupdate turned on the overall SP1 install size will be small.

But it will be good for doing fresh systems no waiting for all the separate updates to download. Burn a copy of SP1 to DVD and have it ready for the next time a format is needed.

    Stolen from another site

    1. use legit win7 key even if it's been activated 9864987269384767956 times.
    2. activate windows. when it fails, go to step 3.
    3. choose "contact Microsoft to solve this issue" and dial their tasty toll free 1800 number
    4. follow the prompts to activate answering yes to all the questions about reinstalling, uninstalling blah blah yes this is the only computer this software is installed on blah blah.
    5. get new original super sexy Microsoft original activation key
    6. stop being a faggot

Made a DVD from the iso in the link above and tried it on a work computer with genuine win 7 home premium.
As the others said...it takes f**king ages to install and you have no choice as to what it installs.
After an hour or so I checked the View Update History window to see if KB971033 phone home anti piracy "update" was put in.

It is listed but says install failed.....so beware with this sp1 iso.
Will try it on my other 2 identical lappys and see if any different with this KB971033 piece of shit "update"

So we assume that KB971033 is not a problem if downloaded as part of SP 1?

    Cheers

    My experience with SP1.

The lappy at home has win 7 64bit ultimate running with one of the donated msdn keys that were around some time ago that is still working but could be a problem with KB971033.
I have updated the OS regularly and when KB971033 was included last year I made it a hidden update.

I used windows update to install SP1 yesterday and apart from taking forever (>1 hour to install a 86MB update) it has not installed KB971033 and the lappy is fine

It was the one Sanity gave us. I do realise the loader works on other systems with the SP1 update just can't get my head around on how to troubleshoot the "unknown error" as soon as installation starts.

I'm going to update my dell, it's using the same loader and the system hasn't been updated in a while so I'll see if I get the same error.

    Yeah mines the v3.5.0.3.

I just went onto windows update and the the windows 7 sp 1 update isn't even listed at the moment but it is installing about 39 other updates. So i'll see what happens after these updates finish.
